I'm devastated to report that one of my best friends and most treasured collaborators has passed away. I "grew up" (kinda) watching Dick Miller in movies from the 50s on and was thrilled to have him in my first movie for

RRR (Rise Roar Revolt) is maybe the best Bollywood movie I've seen. It was certainly the most expensive. It manages to remain continually enthralling over its action packed 3 hour (!) run time! It's made to be seen on the big screen, and is currently playing at the

My picture Matinee turns 30 (!) today! Who here saw it in theaters?
Check out our Matinee collection in my

Disappointing to see that
#DickMiller
was left off the In Memoriam segment of tonite's Oscars, but he's in good company with Stanley Donen, Julie Adams and others who have made more of an impact than the unknown publicists and ex-studio execs who seem to dominate these tributes.
...We hit it off and every script thereafter I always looked for a role for Dick--not just because he was my friend but because I loved watching him act! But he leaves behind over 100 performances, a bio & a doc--not bad for a guy who hardly ever enjoyed a starring role. (2/2)
On behalf of all the graduates from The Corman School, we wish
@RogerCorman
a very happy 98th birthday with thanks for starting us all on our careers. He taught us all perseverance, economy and how to please an audience--and ourselves.
My picture MATINEE has been remastered for a special deluxe 4K edition by my pals at
@Shout_Studios
! I oversaw the color timing for this puppy. Grab your copy on June 25!
John Goodman is at his best as a William Castle-inspired movie promoter who brings his unique brand of flashy showmanship to the unsuspecting residents of Key West, Florida in MATINEE.
@joe_dante
's beloved send-up of cinema is coming to 4K June 25.
It's the 34th Birthday of the PG-13 Rating! I like to think of it partly as "my" PG-13 rating, since
#Gremlins
was partially responsible for the change!
RIP Joe Flaherty.
I was lucky enough to work with him twice, on Innerspace and Runaway Daughters. One of the nicest people in the biz. SCTV made me a fan for life.
This Saturday, my picture The 'Burbs will officially be old enough to run for president!!
To celebrate, here's a new still from my archives, featuring some of my longtime recurrent performers, Bruce Dern and Wendy Schaal!
Didn't realize many of these episodes were directed by Joe Dante until I was working on his section at
@VIDTHEQUE
last week! Come rent em when we reopen later this month!
"Gremlins" was released 36 years ago today!! Time flies when you're doing your darnedest to keep 'em away from bright light, putting 'em in bed before midnight, and never, ever getting them wet.
Fire up that HBO Max or 4K player and celebrate TFH Guru
@joe_dante
’s “Gremlins” on the occasion of its 36th birthday!
And then check out Glenn Erickson’s

My picture Gremlins was first released to theaters TODAY, 39 years ago!
Celebrate its birthday on our

My picture Gremlins 2: The New Batch turns 33 tomorrow! To celebrate, we're unveiling some new stills at our

My picture Explorers was released to theaters on this date in 1985! Who here saw it in theaters? Who discovered it on VHS?
We've added a new still from the flick to our

TFH Fearless Leader
@joe_dante
’s classic sci-fi adventure comedy “Innerspace,” starring Martin Short, Meg Ryan & Dennis Quaid, first blew minds 33 years ago today!

Kudos to my pal
@edgarwright
for his memorable "Last Night in Soho," which is one the most imaginative and excitingly conceived pictures of the decade for those of us who love cinema. I recommend you see it theatrically if possible because it's a REAL MOVIE. And so much FUN!
Nearly 40 years ago,
@joe_dante
and Steven Spielberg teamed up for
#Gremlins
– the goofy, goopy fable that dared to explore the dark side of the holidays.
My film “Matinee” turns 26 today! John Goodman plays a free-wheeling director who brings his latest fright flick to town in order to gin up excitement. Check out

OTD in 1990... We told you not to feed them after midnight. We told you to keep them away from the light. And the most important warning of all... We told you to never, ever get them wet. You didn't listen! Who here saw Gremlins 2: The New Batch in theaters?
WAKE UP TCM!
"Star Wars" is a 2:35 widescreen movie and for its debut on TCM you cropped it to 1:85!
And a few weeks ago you ran "Executive Suite" in a stretched wide version that made everybody look like Victor Buono! What's up over there?
RIP Nicolas Roeg. I followed his career first for his photographic style, later for his fascinating choice of subject matter. WALKABOUT is a near perfect tone poem, the restored THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH is one of the greatest sci-fi movies ever.
At 93 minutes, Late Night with the Devil does a great job with its small budget. Scary enough to rate an endorsement from no less than Stephen King! Go see it in theaters like I did, or wait until it streams on
@Shudder
April 19th.
Condolences to Ron Howard, whose dad Rance Howard has passed at 89. I first met Rance while editing Grand Theft Auto (he co-wrote with Ron) and he eventually became one of my favorite go-to actors on numerous projects. A stand-up guy who worked till the end.
Had a blast at Dick Miller's 90th birthday soiree!
1st pic: Unidentified, Roger Corman, Jackie Joseph and Jonathan Haze (Little Shop of Horrors), Dick Miller, Belinda Balaski
2nd: Dick, his granddaughter and Lainie
3rd: Dick & Lainie cutting a rug
4th: The agenda!
The financial success of MEGAN, BARBARIAN, VIOLENT NIGHT and now COCAINE BEAR means we’re going to get a lot more gonzo cinema from Hollywood studios as they scramble to make fast cash. It’s going to be the 80’s all over again and one helluva ride.
The 'Burbs turns 35 today!!
When did you first see it? When did you last see it?
We've got a fresh celebratory still in our
@renfieldprods
shop, featuring some of my favorite repertory players in Bob Picardo and Dick Miller.
My longtime friend and stop motion master Phil Tippett has furthered the traditions of Ray Harryhausen and Willis O'Brien. Now he has his own documentary! Check it out!
