Knackered mum and editorial exec for BBC content. Previous lives as editor of the BBC’s news channels, HuffPost UK editor, Newsnight, ITN, Question Time
This is just utterly devastating news. I did work experience with Emily at ITN Westminster in my 20s - when a producer job came up, she called me and suggested I go for it. I owe a lot to her, and I bet I’m not the only one. A lovely, kind, brilliant woman
We are devastated at the passing of our remarkable colleague Emily Morgan.
Emily was a hugely talented journalist and a much-loved friend and mentor to so many here. She will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts are with Emily’s family.
Statement:
Ramzy is one of - if not the - best news editors I’ve worked with, and was key to what we built at huffpost (for those with long memories!). He builds inclusive, impactful teams and gets the best out of reporters, especially junior ones, helping to craft their work
Sad to say I've been laid off by openDemocracy, along with several of my incredible colleagues in the UK. It's one dark day of many for British journalism, but I'm immensely proud of everything we achieved together. Here's some of the best. 🧵
Had to reinstall Twitter on my phone to post this, which is evidence of the esteem I hold him in! And also my continued frustration at the journalism industry chewing up brilliant people. Keep paying for the stuff you want to read, folks. There’s less of it than ever.
Thinking of industry colleagues caught up in this today. Sad news. Every time you read a listicle on the website of a traditional newspaper remember it was a pretty radical format once.

I once popped out for a coffee with
@xtophercook
when we worked at NN and Ed Sheeran was on the piazza rehearsing and Chris had absolutely no idea who he was. So you are certainly more famous than him in one small section of the population
@alice_emily
These are like a secret thing people who have given birth mention to you quietly - they are, in my opinion, one of the absolute lifesaving essentials! (unless you’re having a c section, obvs)

@hannahfearn
That storyline broke me. Recently a friend said she was rewatching from the start and I was half-tempted before realising I can’t because of Mark Green’s story arc
@Yasm1nK
@bettyredondo
What a lovely thing to say! You have also brought me back to Twitter for the first time in months, haha. Thanks for being great, excited for you and looking forward to catching up about it all when I’m back from holiday xx
@yngvlgrn
They do fabulous accessories - particularly shoes and bags - and the occasional nice dress, but their sale is often a hilarious jumble of unflattering stuff
@PrincessMissDee
@Scriblit
I buy jude quite a lot from the girls’ section in primark (and the boys too, tbf), some of it’s really nice and obviously v affordable
@LmbBuckley
Ah thanks, that’s nice of you to say. Not back, sadly. I miss old Twitter! But this place is not my stomping ground anymore, and I no longer need to use it for work.
