CAREER UPDATE
#2
- I'm beyond excited to announce that today is my first day as a FULLTIME Content Creator 🥳🥳🥳
I'm still exploring opportunities in the background, but at least for the next several months, I work for myself 💪
CAREER UPDATE: I was let go from my job yesterday. I might take a few months to myself but if you’re hiring a Developer Advocate or Head of DevRel please send me a dm :)
Anyone else really struggle with using TypeScript sometimes?
Finding the TypeScript types for events in React is damn near impossible. I just try a bunch of random ones from stack overflow until something works...
Last year, my goal was to make $100k USD through content. I made $114k with only 6 months of that being full-time 🤯
I'm so stoked to go through the full year of 2023 providing value to the community while also making really good money :)
Quick humble brag: In my first full month as a full-time content creator, I made the same amount of money as I did in a month of my previous salary 🔥🔥🔥
Github no longer lets you copy/paste the name of the project when trying to delete it. Thoughts?
Personally, after answering two confirm questions I should then be able to copy/paste 🤷♂️
I failed my very first technical interview but then went on to work at Microsoft.
Don’t get down if you fail an interview. Just use it as a learning experience.
Don't feel bad if I "quickly" find an error in your code after you've been debugging it for over an hour. This just means I've seen that error before.
It doesn't make me a "better" developer, and it doesn't make you any less of a developer.
Big News 👀 Today is my last day at
@auth0
. It's been amazing being a part of such growth and excitement over the past two years.
Definitely mixed emotions as I'm leaving an incredible team, but I'm excited to start a new opportunity next week!

Well, it's official. I joined the 100k club on

🥳
Creating videos has been one of the most rewarding activities of my career with this being one of my greatest accomplishments. More fun content to come!
If I was job searching, I'd spend time learning a language other than JavaScript (Python, Java, C#, etc.)
This economy is shit. Its likely you'll need more than JavaScript to get hired.
If package-lock.json is used to ensure we get the exact same intended npm package versions…why don’t we just define the exact version number in the package.json to start…?
Well this is what 30 looks like. Can’t tell you how fortunate I am to have an amazing family and friends which includes so many people on Twitter, discord, YouTube, etc. So lucky to have so many amazing people in my life!
Controversial (maybe...?) but I think understanding the full stack (frontend and backend) makes you a better developer!
Doesn't mean you have to actually do both, BUT having working knowledge of both is very helpful.
Did you know you can conditionally load stylesheets based on media queries in your HTML? 👀
Thanks
@remix_run
for broadening my mind on what the browser + specs support!
Developers, what's the hardest problem you've had to solve recently?
I'll start: building a multi-step form. Was WAYYYY more intricate than I thought it would be.
I can never remember the difference between splice() and slice()...
I just try the first one that comes to mind. If it doesn't do what I want, I try the other one 🤣
Personal Update: Last week I suffered from severe anxiety over the course of several days for the first time in my life.
I thought it would be helpful to share my experience in case it's helpful for anyone else, so here it goes 🧵
In VS
@code
, is there a shortcut to select multiple lines and update a number incrementally in one go?
So...
person1
person1
person1
should become...
person1
person2
person3
Today has been confusing, but here’s what I know. I’ve reached hundreds of thousand of people across the world through my content.
I’m blessed, humbled, and extremely proud to be BOTH a full-time content creator AND a father.
I stand by that…EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
The difference between "production" code and tutorial code is huuuuuuge 👀
Don't stop after the tutorial is done. Continue to build and ship and learn along the way!
FINALLY RELEASED! 11 part video series on creating JAMstack apps with Next.js
