If you're curious about my picks, here are the sets of heuristics I've used the most over my decade in the biz. ๐Ÿ‘‡

@itspatmorgan "How reversible is this decision?" The more reversible, the faster you should make it. The less reversible, the more data and confidence you need before making it.

@itspatmorgan โ€žIs it more work to convince the product owner design decisions are important or do I simply create a way shittier design to make him pick my desired one?โ€œ

@itspatmorgan Design consistency is a big one for me. That means being consistent with other parts of the application or website, but also with common design patterns. Providing a feeling of familiarity helps improve usability.

@MichaelFangman Consistency is a great guideline. Useful in its own right, but also useful to enable high impact intentional inconsistency when it's called for!

@itspatmorgan People spend most of their time on other sites. Yours should work and behave according to their expectations from other sites.

@hobdaydesign "Absolute annoyance" is an interesting idea. Kind of like a reverse application of utilitarianism. Thanks for sharing!

@itspatmorgan As soon as I see a menu drop down hiding options, I remember if it's hidden it's not usable. Mobile too!
