@nickyknivesout @RedbridgeAction @MetPolice @OwenJones84 @NewhamIndParty @DillyHussain88 @5Pillarsuk @KernowDamo @andrewfeinstein @jeremycorbyn @CAGEintl @georgegalloway @Islamchannel 💯 laughable "we are a Christian country" and then proceed to be the most disgusting and hateful unchristian person. Same for "British Values" - and here was me thinking a key part of "British Values" was being tolerant and nice.

"Any man's death diminishes me,/ because I am involved in mankind." A great poem to teach alongside Priestley's 'An Inspectors Calls'. It's uncannily like "We do not live alone. We are members of one body".

@Mathew_Lynch44 I don't it's the praying that's so contentious - it's who is doing the praying. Would it have caused such a stir if it wasn't a Muslim girl? I highly doubt it.

@MrsMFteach @Team_English1 Macbeth's character trajectory goes from aural hyper sensitivity where every 'noise appals [him]' to deadened (deafened) sensibility: 'the time has been, my senses would have cooled to hear a night-shriek' but now nothing can 'start [him]'. This deadening sensibility...

@vlthornton @Bowtie_pedagogy @Team_English1 Hard agree, and to add, the Birlings are the titanic, very "pleased with themselves" (tellingiy, this is mentioned a few times) and the Inspector is the iceberg to sink or puncture their aristocratic pretences.

@BarbaraBleiman @drdavidajames @CarolAtherton8 Exactly Barbara, and I've made a point in the piece about students' own misconceptions of what good writing is at A level. Lack of clarity of thought and expression is something I see every year, especially as students begin year 12. 'What do you mean?' features often in fb.

@MrsMFteach @Team_English1 LM as shrew: Macbeth is "valour's minion" which parallels LM's "I will chastise [Macbeth] with the valour of my tongue". Lady Macbeth turning her own domain into a domestic battleground where she can showcase her courage, unlike in the all-male battlefield. Words, not swords

@mrsmacteach33 @robert_g_west "No more" as the witches "set" him "up in hope" (3.1). This is a Banquo motivated by his own posterity rather than selflessness. And Fleance is not king or Prince at end? How does he become King? Will he also have to play "most foully for it"?3/

@annemflfc @g_gosden @tigerrector @afneil Used to be a respectable journalist: critical, interrogative, intelligent. His interview with Ben Shapiro on BBC a few years ago showed how good he can be. He really has fallen far and now is a prominent contributor to the "decline in public discourse" he himself laments.

@mrsmacteach33 Deconsecrating the role of authority, even in a play as seemingly propaganda-y as Macbeth - am I looking too hard for subversion, for an anti-authoritarian lens with which to look at the play? Perhaps, & it's something I try keep in mind! 2/

I'm not talking specifically about Cushing and you may be right- I'm not enough of an expert to say - but it doesn't make sense to say no schools implement said research, therefore it is invalid/erroneous/disproven.

@mrsmacteach33 @robert_g_west KJ was also very clear that it is never right to dethrone a King, even tyrannous ones, but Shakespeare is clear that a tyrant can be deposed, which directly counters James' view. At the very least, imo, the play is a warning to James: behave like a tyrant 4/
