Shame on
@UFLAC
1. Bus and center turn lanes would allow emergency vehicles to bypass traffic.
2. CAO cost is wildly inaccurate, actual cost is 90% less.
3. A pedestrian is killed every 2 days & traffic fatalities are
#1
cause of death for kids.
Measure HLA will save lives.

Yikes! The
@UFLAC
argument against Measure HLA is so full of falsehoods that Twitter added a community note to their ad.
Here's the truth: Measure HLA will fix our dangerous streets, speed up emergency response, and save countless lives.
Fact checking the
@UFLAC
video.
Firefighters are heroes; such a shame their union is spreading misinformation against a ballot measure that will save lives (and speed up emergency response).
Did you know that Measure HLA would improve a 330 mile transit network, making public transit faster and more efficient for everyone in Los Angeles?

we get a lot of compliments on our branding -- you can shout out
@jawshv
our creative director ๐ his work should be studied by all safe streets advocates!
Los Angeles voters overwhelmingly approved Measure HLA yesterday. But our work is only beginning. We're going to fulfill this city's multi-modal potential so that EVERYONE has good, safe options for getting aroundโโwhether you walk, bike, ride transit, or drive. LA, let's do this
We get a lot of support from folks who live in cities adjacent to the city of LA because our ordinance is so important for regional connectivity in the transportation network!
I donโt live in LA, Iโm a Long Beach guy, but if I could I would vote YES on Measure HLA /
@healthystreetla
. The entire region would benefit from a more accessible & bikeable, Los Angeles. This is also a vote for climate justice and good for the economy and housing. Vote Yes!
We asked Randy Newman why he supports Measure HLA.
โI love our City but our streets are too dangerous. More people in LA are killed in car collisions than by guns. I hope you will join me in voting Yes on Measure HLA to make our streets safer and reduce traffic deaths.โ

Thanks for this. Iโm an LA city firefighter, itโs embarrassing that our union is backing No on this. Thereโs a general union meeting at the end of the month, Iโll be sure to bring this up.
LA Times Editorial:
โinstead of working to help solve this crisis, some of the cityโs most powerful interests are trying to sabotage efforts to make the streets safer for pedestrians, bicyclists and, yes, even drivers.โ
Our hearts break every time thereโs a story like this.
In Los Angeles, a pedestrian is killed every 2 days and injured every 5 hours.
Vote YES on HLA to stop this madness.
When the City makes a promise to make our streets safer, we expect them to make good on that plan.
Thank you
@kennethmejiaLA
for endorsing Measure HLA's plan to hold the City accountable and increase transparency around how we spend our transportation budget.

for this wonderful explainer of Measure HLA: all we want is for the City to install its own street safety plan when it does routine street maintenance.

The citizen-sponsored ballot initiative that aims to force Los Angeles to add hundreds of miles of bike and bus lanes โ to make streets safer for pedestrians and bicyclists โ was leading by a wide margin in early returns.

Did you know that the City of LA receives almost $800,000,000 in funding that is required to be spent on transportation?
Measure HLA will make sure this money is spent more efficiently.
@UFLAC
One of our favorite parts of this video is our breakdown of how much money the City of LA already receives annually that can only be spent on transportation and street improvements.
CITY OF LA TRANSPORTATION TRANSPARENCY (PAST 4 YEARS)๐
๐ฐ LA taxpayers paid $234M in liability claims for traffic collisions & dangerous conditions
๐ธ The City underspent by $172M on transportation related Special Funds (Measure M and R)
๐ There were 1,191 traffic fatalities
See that fire truck and ambulance up there? They just used the Venice Boulevard Bus Lane to zip past rush hour traffic. Letโs pass HLA and see more of this (and sorry I missed the action shot ๐)
@healthystreetla
When the City first studied the Mobility Plan, their report estimated implementing it would result in 400,000 additional transit boardings every day, putting 1,300,000 Angelenos within a 5 minute walk of high-quality transit.
That's why we're fighting to pass Measure HLA.
Metro board meeting: now on CEO Stephanie Wiggins montly report - touts ridership increases. Jan 2024 is 14 consecutive months where current month surpassed same month a year earlier. Notes that J Line BRT is at 107% of pre-pandemic ridership
We get a lot of comments like this from younger folks who donโt feel engaged by other races. We donโt take that for granted โ our campaign is powered by young people fighting for a better future.
People often ask us: which streets are on the High Injury Network?
Here's a handy map. These are the streets that will see significant safety upgrades if you vote YES on Measure HLA.
Do you live in a neighborhood with cut-through traffic? The Mobility Plan outlines more than 800 miles of safety improvements to residential streets that will make neighborhood streets safer.
Here's a stat to make you think. The upgrades required by Measure HLA would:
๐ Put 1,265,500 people within a 5 minute walk of high quality transit
๐ Put another 1,002,000 people within a 5 minute walk of an all ages bike route
Measure HLA will ๐ get ๐ it ๐ built ๐
there should be a ballot measure that could cut down on those liability claims related to streets and transportation...
oh wait... that's us!
๐๐๐
In just seven months, the City of LA spent $8.3 million in liability claims related to streets and transportation (conservatively) - money that could be much better spent proactively maintaining safe streets and sidewalks. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Have you heard about Measure HLA? ๐
We're endorsed by the LA County Democratic Party, LA Federation of Labor, Sierra Club, LA County Business Federation, and tons of other organizations.

LAPD is giving a press conference right now to talk about how homicides have dropped as a whole in LA.
No mention of traffic violence killing more people than homicides yet.
Did you know that someone is severely injured in a car crash every 5 hours in the City of LA? Here's a map of fatal crashes and crashes that resulted in a severe injury in the City of LA in just one year.

No, you're not seeing double!
Sometimes, when you request a yard sign, one of your neighbors will see it and decide they want one too ๐ That's why it's such a great way for us to spread the word about Measure HLA!
Gets yours here:
Measure HLA creates safety enhancements that provide better movement around the City, making our streets more connected for all road users. Here's what one doctor has to say about it.
