I just read an opinion piece in WSJ which said that India’s political values are more like that of “Asian” Vietnam and not that of democratic France - and hence the US can only have common interests with India, not common values. Of course it is by an Indian-American, who else :)

In June 2020 at the height of Chinese aggression against India, the EU asked “both sides” to “show restraint.” To be fair, we were not expecting anything else in terms of statements. Also, Russia said something similar. Again, we did not expect anything else. Just the way it is.

India will decisively surpass France/UK in market exchange GDP this year (and interestingly should surpass California as well). Next stop Germany and then Japan both of which will also not take much time. Then a big gap is there with China and the United States. That is the race.

It is deeply unfortunate that we do not teach our epics such as the Mahabharata in our schools and colleges. We have the most precious of gems and due to our self-imposed confusions, we do not share it with our youth. There is no substitute for being comfortable in your own skin.
