I believe 🇦🇫&🇵🇰 must have good relations. Afghans & Pakistanis have shared sufferings & can grow together. AFG refugees often had better experiences in 🇵🇰 than in Iran. I believe TB & Pak gov can solve the current problems if they respect Afghans’ right of self-determination.

Ppl in my village r selling their belongings (small TVs etc) to feed themselves. 1 egg costs 10Afg in Herat. A person needs 2-3 eggs+nan for a meal. It’d cost 850afg/day for a family of 7 to eat egg+nan. Starvation is a real fear. can’t continue to debate. #UnfreezeAfgMoney

On Panjsheer 1. Anti-Taliban camp is hoping Massoud Jr gets enough int backing to extract meaningful concessions, basically compensate for the leverage Ghani’s escape lost. I think the best they could hope for was some sort of self-governance in areas where they dominate.

Talked to one of these women. She said many were factory workers in Herat. They worked for 2$/day. Many were the sole breadwinners. Now they are told they may be out of a job. Women's rights are not fancy things for the urban elites. They are what many women need to survive.

Taliban paraded the death bodies of alleged kidnappers who were reportedly killed in action in Herat. Parading death bodies like this is against human dignity. Even if a person is killed as a result of legitimate use of force, their dignity bfr/post death must be respected.

Since 2001, millions of Afghan men & women worked tirelessly in the public & private sectors to make Afghanistan better. Fruits of their labour are Afghan gains absolutely worth saving. It’s dishonest, revisionist & wrong to reduce all of that to the crimes of a small group.

Taliban must seek internal legitimacy before they can claim international legitimacy. A Taliban-only gov, installed by force, one that lacks a basic legal framework & brutally silences any form of dissent cannot claim to represent 🇦🇫 internationally. Nor can it bring stability.

Taliban fighters are too quick to shoot. A young doc in Herat & now a young woman in Kabul are murdered. The public still doesn't know what happened to the perpetrators in either case. Both trial & judgments should be public (as is constitutionally required). #JusticeForZainab

This is only half truth. The other half of the story: Taliban’s refusal to share power with other Afghans led to military takeover of the country which then led to stoppage of vital funds to the Afghan economy.
