In Tulsa, we protect the free and peaceful exchange of ideas. We did it during the last two weeks of protests, and we will do it during the President’s visit to Tulsa next week. We will also continue to follow the State of Oklahoma’s guidelines for a safe reopening.
Tulsa is a city that loves heroes. Today, we feel the tremendous pain of losing one. I hope the Johnson family and the men and women of the Tulsa Police Department will feel our city gathered around them - showing the same love for them that Sergeant Craig Johnson showed for us.
I generally don’t waste time responding to ridiculous garbage being circulated around town, but it has begun to distract from important progress we are making in Tulsa so it is time to make an exception.
It has become very clear that immigration will be a “wedge issue” in this…
Thank you,

The
@cityoftulsagov
mask ordinance is signed and in effect. We do this at the request of our hospitals, our doctors and nurses, our school leaders, and so many more who want to protect the ability of local health care systems to serve Tulsans in need.
I am grateful for the broad support of
@TulsaCouncil
in approving this important ordinance. I will sign it at 9:00 AM tomorrow in order to give
@TulsaPolice
time to share details with officers in the field. It will go into effect immediately upon signing.
I wish I knew how to properly convey the courage I’ve seen from Officer Zarkeshan, his family, and his friends. I have told him and them that a whole city is pulling for him. His family says they can feel it. Please keep it up, Tulsa.
Just walked outside City Hall to invite
#WeCantBreathe
activists inside. They want to conduct a press conference first, and will then join me for a discussion.
Suspect in custody. Grateful for all the tips provided. Please continue to pray for our officers, their families, and the health care professionals working to save the officers’ lives.
I hope the immigrants who call Tulsa home know how honored I am as the Mayor of Tulsa that they chose our city out of anywhere in the world as a beacon of freedom and opportunity. I have been so inspired over the last several years by the ways in which Tulsans from across our…

Powerful story on
@60Minutes
tonight about the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. Grateful this story is being told to a national audience. The test excavation on a potential mass grave in Oaklawn Cemetery was delayed due to COVID-19 and is set to resume in July.
We held our largest citizenship ceremony to date at the historic Admiral Twin Drive-In: 58 people from 23 countries who are all now our fellow Americans! 🇺🇸
“And in the end, love of neighbor is more important at a local level than political party or ideology. This is what will get us through the current pandemic together.”
In this pandemic event, when we’re all socially distancing, I hope that people in both communities know that Oklahoma’s two largest cities have never worked together more closely to protect one another.

American Airlines just announced the largest economic development investment in Tulsa history!!! $550 million to make the world’s largest commercial aviation maintenance base the best it can be for decades to come - right here in Tulsa.
I want to thank my colleagues in Broken Arrow, Jenks, and Collinsville for taking courageous action today that will slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus in our region and save lives. They join Tulsa, OKC, Norman, Edmond, and Lawton.
Another night of protecting both free speech and private property. The men and women of the
@TulsaPolice
Department are doing a great job maintaining that balance.
Cities across the country are experiencing a municipal budget crisis. Grateful for my colleagues on the
@TulsaCouncil
who worked with me to produce a balanced budget that protects our ability at

to continue serving our fellow Tulsans.
Great news for

! After talking about it since the 1950s, we are going to build the Gilcrease Expressway that will open up economic development opportunities through North and West Tulsa. Thank you
@realDonaldTrump
@GovStitt
@JimInhofe
The Tulsa, Oklahoma area has been approved for a transportation loan from the
@USDOT
of up to $120M to help expand highway on the Gilcrease Expressway West Project. This will mean less congestion and faster routes to popular spots!
@GovStitt
Have had a few people tell me they heard Tulsa is going to implement a “shelter in place” order imminently. That is a rumor and is not true. We will evaluate day by day, but I have not received any guidance from public health professionals that Tulsa do so at this time.
Well, wasn’t planning to announce it this way but there you have it! We are making so much progress in Tulsa, and it is important that we follow through on the big goals we’ve established. I am running for re-election next year.
The logic behind prohibiting large public events during a pandemic event is that you want to slow the rate of contagion so your local health care system isn’t hit with a spike in people needing immediate care. Great visuals here.
#flattenthecurve
Thank you to every Tulsan who lined the route out of respect for Sergeant Johnson, and to every Tulsan who prays for Officer Zarkeshan as he continues to fight and his condition improves.
The love this city is showing for our officers is incredible. 💙
With
@TPD_Franklin
in our
@TulsaPolice
command post to keep Tulsa and protesters safe. I want to thank the faith leaders who are stepping up to calm the situation on Brookside. The men and women of the Tulsa Police Department are doing an exceptional job tonight.
The love that Tulsans showed for our city on Election Day was overwhelming! It is a powerful thing to see this city on the rise, rallying together at a time when there is so much available to divide us. Thank you to every Tulsan who believes in what our city can be.
Thank you
@ReginaKing
&
@watchmen
for using your very first episode to raise awareness of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre! It means so much to our community and it is another defeat for those who tried to erase it from history.
Seeing so many tweets that
#Watchmen
was the first time they heard about Black Wall Street and had no idea that our opening depicted the Tulsa Massacre which had not been taught in US history classes made me want to post this post from The Post:

Today, I have signed an order requiring shelter-in-place protocols for Tulsa. The Tulsa Safer At Home executive order will take effect at 11:59 PM and run through April 16, at which time it will be evaluated.
It’s midnight. It’s September 18. It’s time to celebrate the city we love. I just signed the proclamation to make it official. Alright Tulsa, let’s start 918 Day!
#918Day
99 years ago, our fellow Tulsans lost their lives because white Tulsans opted for violence instead of dialogue with black Tulsans. Today, this generation of Tulsans spent 3 hours in a room working through our differences on a number of challenging issues.
As of 8:30 pm, we have welcomed 26,000 people to the great lawn of
@ScissortailPark
to see
@KingsOfLeon
! We believe it is the largest concert crowd in the history of Oklahoma City! AMAZING.

Today the true Tulsa Spirit shines bright: Just confirmed with

that our community contributed over $515,000 TODAY for the families of Sergeant Craig Johnson and Officer Aurash Zarkeshan! Such amazing love and support shown for these brave men and their families. 💙
A pretty incredible sight to see:

Sorry to learn of the passing of Cesar Pelli at 92. He designed the BOK Center in Downtown Tulsa, and we will always be grateful for the experiences we share in this building designed by one of the great architects of his era.
Grateful for the care and concern shown by Oklahoma House Speaker Charles McCall, who came by our Emergency Operations Center today to make sure our disaster response team has what it needs from the State of Oklahoma!
Thank for Acting Governor and State Senate President Pro Tem
@Sen_GregTreat
spending the day with our emergency response team in Tulsa! Senator Treat’s swift action to sign the emergency declaration for this disaster will allow the clean-up to move more quickly. We are grateful.

@cityoftulsagov
facilities and revoking special event permits issued for events of 250 or more. This ban will go into effect at 5:00 PM.
The desire from businesses to invest in Tulsa is strong. We’ve announced over $1 billion in private sector investment over the last 3 years and throughout the global pandemic we have continued to engage with companies that are interested in Tulsa.
An ordinance requiring covering of the nose and mouth in public is before the City Council today. Have received a lot of questions, so will try to address the most frequent ones.

He cared more about principle than politics. Unlike many who go there, every day he spent in DC was a real sacrifice for him. He was the smartest person in every meeting I staffed for him. I loved and admired him tremendously.
My remarks from our 4:00 PM comprehensive storm briefing. Most importantly: Thank you
@Sen_GregTreat
for not hesitating to sign our emergency declaration!

Effective today, all Tulsa Parks playground equipment, sports courts, and dog parks are closed. Open spaces and trails remain open for everyone to use, but please do so while remaining at least 6 feet apart from those outside your household.

To celebrate 918 Day for the second year in a row, I will be taking a 24-hour tour of Tulsa starting at midnight tonight! Our city has so much to offer and I want to experience as much of it as possible in the 24 hours of 9/18. You’ll be able to follow the ride here.

Tulsans want this to be a city where every kid has an equal shot at a great life - and a big part of that is access to fresh, healthy food. So grateful for the broad coalition who relentlessly pursued this grocery store!
Congratulations Tulsa! Use of our existing direct flights to New York LaGuardia has been so strong that you’ve proven the market. Starting in May, Delta will join American in offering this nonstop service from TUL! ✈️

The sacrifices of Tulsans saved thousands of lives - the lives of people in this community who will never know to thank you because your service to them was the absence of illness in this crucial period at the outset of a global pandemic.
A leader can’t recruit and retain a great team if that leader has no job stability. This vote was a big step forward for all who want to see a rapid improvement in outcomes for Tulsa Public Schools. I am so grateful for the wisdom of the locally-elected board members who have now…

Today is the 99th anniversary of Tulsa’s most tragic day. We can not appreciate the full scale of what was lost in the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre until we know the stories of the individuals who were lost and who rebuilt.
Electric scooters are coming-and they will change the way we get around Tulsa! Huge thanks to

for leading the effort. So excited, I may have taken a spin in City Hall...
Tulsa has once again been recognized as one of the best city governments in the country when it comes to using data to innovate! Grateful for everyone on our team whose commitment to great customer service is making Tulsa a leader.
