Look, the parks are still full. They have yet to exceed the price that the market will bear, but execs are severely damaging the brand and there will be kids today who, as adults, opt to not take their own kids to the parks because their childhood experience there was just okay.

I think what a lot of these problems come down to is that execs sit in rooms, see minor problems and expect Guests to solve them on their own. But with a little more thought (and sure a little more money) Disney could find structural solutions before the problems ever arise.

Every year I lived in Orlando, lease renewals came with around a 20% rent increase. Negotiation used to be an option, but that ended a few years back. CMs are the value generators for the company. If they can’t afford to live in Central Florida, the parks will cease to function.

So I’m biased, but KiteTails was the perfect show for what it was. It was never meant to be on par with a nighttime spectacular. It was a fun, no-wait experience that you could plan for or stumble upon, and people did. It was a show rooted in joy, and that’s all it needed to be.
