Saw that my GREEN LANTERN: EARTH ONE art was used by
@JamesGunn
to pitch the LANTERNS series during the
#DCStudios
presentation. Since I already got the series going in the right visual direction how about hiring me to direct an episode?
RIP George Pérez. He was my first, biggest inspiration to be a comic book artist and storyteller. People talk about his ability to draw a lot of characters on a page but it was the humanity he conveyed through them that was so important.
The argument that comics shouldn’t be drawn in a “realistic” style is nonsense. Comics can be drawn in any style. It’s all about the desired tone. There’s no pure version of comics.
Looked at our Metal Men pitch from a couple years ago and it's actually pretty good. Probably more robot politics than anybody wanted. Not sure I could have realistically drawn 12 issues but I think it would have been an interesting book.
It's nice that a site picked GREEN LANTERN: EARTH ONE as one of the best GL stories. Would be better if they gave me credit as co-writer. It's right there in the book. I'm not just the artist. So sick of this.
Disney acquiring Fox is bad news. It means Hollywood movies will be even more homogeneous. Even blander. I could care less which studio controls which superheroes. I want more diversity in the kinds of movies made.
This is the scene for me. It’s genuine and naive and does the one thing almost no one has gotten right since, it lets you feel like someone is going to save us. That things could be okay.
RIP Keith Giffen. I’ve followed and admired his work since I was a kid. As a storyteller and artist he took big chances, seemingly never afraid to let his work evolve and try new things. I own a page from his 80s Dr. Fate series and was reading his work when I saw the news.
On Instagram some guy said to me he just watched ALIENS for the first time and it was okay but needed updated CGI. Luckily on Instagram I can delete stupid comments.
I missed
#Swantennial
- the 100th anniversary of Curt Swan's birthday - by a day but here's my interpretation of his cover for Action Comics
#239
anyway.
