Today marks 40 years since the first cases of HIV surfaced. We lost a generation of our Black queer foremothers & fathers and subsequently parts of our oral history due to the disgusting, mishandling of this virus.
Megan thee Stallion’s effortless/unintentional branding is really a case study in itself! “Drive the boat” “hot girl summer” etc. like these catchphrases are fucking everywhere, Megan is EVERYWHERE!!!
I would love to see a documentary on the process behind styling our iconic Black sitcom characters from the 80s-early 00s.
Who was y’all’s favorite BLACK girl style from any era on any sitcom?
No shade to the IG/tik tok fashion girls but the Twitter fashion girls are engaging with fashion in a completely different perspective. It’s archival, it’s researched based, it’s critically engaging with the work, live commentary on red carpets etc. all with a side of satire/wit
I really love the way Ayo Edebiri & her stylist have crafted this lit fashion girl but make it a little off kilter” aesthetic. Rosie Assoulin is something i didn’t think I’d see on the Golden Globes carpet.
Olivier Rousteing not knowing how to cook even an egg, the high ass heat, the blouse & him truly thinking he really did something is the content i signed up for 😭🥴
Y’all are moving really weird with this whole Sha’Carri Richardson ordeal. It’s lacking nuance and perspective. Have you ever lost your mother while becoming a worldwide fixture, with all eyes on you? We all have our ways to cope with loss & manage stress & anxiety.
And her celebrity friends don’t count, she needs some girls that are gonna keep it real, have her back, keep her hip and share the tea on all the cute Black hair products
André 3000 just sounds so at peace. There’s something so sweet about him going to a laundry mat and playing his flute while waiting on his overalls to dry. I love that he gets to enjoy that simplicity.
Not surprised by this AT ALL (because Kanye and Luka are the only black people he knows 🤷🏾♂️) but it does disgust me... like not one black face, no kids from “Chicago”
The fact that this platform hasn’t zoned in on fashion partnerships like other social channels is beyond me. I think a part of it is, a lot of fashion voices on here aren’t in it for the visual exposure. They don’t tend to center themselves in their content..
So the news is out, Pyer Moss is coming to Paris to present Haute Couture. This makes Kerby the first Black American designer invited by the Chambre Syndicale to present couture!!!
Y’all give this man TOO much! The boy was lazy PERIOD! You have men like Hamish, Ashton, Ezra etc. who took it there and this is beyond lazy idc how y’all try to theorize it...
TBH Telfar deserves to win the CFDA, Accessories Designer of the Year. He truly created an “it” accessory & you couldn’t escape seeing it/hearing it, major stockist and sold out drops every month! He deserves!!!!!
That Ralph Lauren x Morehouse x Spelman collab is something special. With its archival homage to Black collegiate dress, it interjects Black style into the Americana cannon (see also: Pyer Moss—American, Also)
I get that Print is expensive, but there’s just a magic, a tangible magic to physically flipping through a magazine, the smell of the paper, collecting and curating stacks—and seeing your name is print is special. I love digital and the access it provides but print, is special
