Mao Asada held a press conference to announce that her ice rink, Mao Rink, will open in fall of 2024. It’s under construction in Tachikawa, Tokyo. It will have a main and a sub rink. It’s planned to be a venue for a skating school, academy, ice shows, etc.

From the upcoming season, Rika Kihira will receive coaching from Brian Orser. Mie Hamada will continue as her main coach. When immigration restrictions are lifted, Rika will go to begin training at Toronto Cricket Club. She will train in both Canada and Japan.

1/2 JSF announced that Shoma Uno decided not to compete in 2020 Four Continents Championships. Kazuki Tomono will attend in his place. It’s also officially confirmed that Stéphane Lambiel is Shoma’s new coach.

⚠️Shoma Uno announced that next season he plans to compete without a main coach. His training base will be Chukyo University and Takeshi Honda will be his jump coach. Shoma said he doesn’t feel much anxiety, and he thinks he can do it by himself.

Japanese skater Rika Hongo has announced her retirement from competitive skating. Wishing her the best! Rika is a two-time Four Continents bronze medalist, a national silver medalist, and 2014 Rostelecom Cup gold medalist. She returned to competition last season after time off.

Good news! Mai Mihara’s coach, Sonoko Nakano, revealed that, after about a month off, Mai returned to training a few days ago. Nakano said Mai has regained much of her lost weight. Mai hasn’t restarted difficult jumps yet, but she’s aiming for Kinki regionals in October. 💕
