I think people underestimate the complexity of taking a 10+ year old codebase with over 200 projects and migrating it to .NET 5. It's a... lot. So many small things to consider in the move. It's like disarming a bomb. You have to find the right starting point and go from there.

When I was a kid, it wasn’t “normal” for girls to like computers. I was supposed to be a teacher, mother, admin assistant, etc etc. My 13yr old self never thought in a million years that making a text-based RPG in BASIC would lead to this. Surreal. #microsoftlife

I once had an employee call out sick, because he spilled his cereal in his lap and just needed the day. I sympathized with that more than he probably knew. Mental health is important. "Sick" doesn't only mean you're feverish and hunkered down in a bed all day.

@davidfowl I'm a lot happier in a remote position. I do miss these kinds of team-based activities, but it's nice to be here for my kids when they get home from school. I'm not wasting 2 hours a day commuting. I am a lot more relaxed and don't feel micromanaged at home.

@khmaieshssen @davidfowl Hard disagree. Diversity is important. Changing the assumed landscape of engineering to bring diverse talent and ideas to the table is important. Having kids look at a group of engineers, seeing themselves there and thinking "I can do that too" is *important.*
