Like I'm not saying dogs are rational actors but the concept of learned helplessness initially derived from dogs has now been applied to humans so I feel pretty comfortable turning the tables. They don't *think*, they don't *reason*. But they *learn*.

A thing about debating trans rights "on the basis of science" is that pro-trans papers generally actually passed pretty stringent and hostile peer review, whereas anti-trans papers are published by a small circle of journals whose EICs all have 1 degree of separation from TERFs

I realised a while that pathological "black-and-white thinking" isn't actually something autistics do — it's a hostile way of describing autistics correctly identifying things as simple that allistics would like to pretend are very complex indeed That feels of a piece with this
