Agree this is key question. Putin’s interest in Trump makes perfect sense. Yet to see a legitimate explanation for Trump’s fierce loyalty to Putin, which is not commensurate with Russia’s influence on the US/world
This a blockbuster

report which documents how pro-Putin Trump is. I’ve tweeted some of the highlights. At its heart is a mystery wrapped in an enigma: “Trump has never explained why he so frequently seems to side with Putin.”
Fox News headline just now: "President Trump installs commission to promote 'patriotic education'"
Chinese state media Xinhua last year: "China unveils outline for strengthening patriotic education"
If it wasn’t for the war in Ukraine, what’s happening in Shanghai would be among the biggest stories in the world right now. Very volatile situation that is being overshadowed by other major world events
There are arguments for and against the effectiveness of lecturing other countries on human rights. But the current inconsistency (slam Havana, flatter Beijing) just undermines US credibility

A bold move from an activist in Moscow. He says he sent an appeal to the Prosecutor General's Office to request a criminal case against Putin and members of the Russian Security Council. He argues this act of war is a violation of Russian law.
Только что я отправил обращение в Генпрокуратуру с просьбой возбудить уголовное дело в отношении президента Путина и членов Совета безопасности России. Считаю, что они нарушили российское законодательство, развязав агрессивную войну.

Again, another reason to dismiss the "Trump presidency is over" theory. This could all by spun to his advantage, as hard as that is to believe right now
the insane thing is that despite video evidence of him dismissing the threat of covid-19, his supporters will insist that he’s been at the forefront of the response, and that it’s a hoax to say otherwise.
A $1 trillion infrastructure bill was partly held up by cryptocurrency. Crypto has come to Washington, and the industry will need more mainstream-friendly messaging if it wants to succeed in the U.S.
This infrastructure bill is just the beginning. Congress must answer to constituents, not to crypto Twitter. What will make lawmakers spend political capital fighting for crypto?

Ukraine's Chobanian to Senate Banking Committee: For my country which is fighting with bare hands, time is vital. Crypto works 24-7. It's about urgency, and ease of use.
Life is going to get much harder for ordinary Russians. The question is: Will they blame Putin or will they blame the United States? The Kremlin's crackdown on media seems aimed to avoid the former
We've now come full circle, with Russia claiming Twitter and Facebook are waging an information war *against* Russia. After years of hearing that these platforms were vehicles for Russian misinformation.
More crypto regulation is coming, but the industry also needs to do a better job of policing itself. Crypto shouldn't rely on government to save it from itself. My latest for

It’s impossible to overstate how schools shootings are seen abroad, especially in countries that America lectures on human rights. Not being shot at school is an essential human right
Cuomo right now: There is a density in NYC that is wholly inappropriate...You would not know that anything is going on. This is just a mistake. It's insensitive, it's arrogant, it's self-destructive...it has to stop now.

Was on CNBC today discussing SEC vs. Coinbase. SEC says it just wants crypto companies to play by the rules. Coinbase says it tried to play by the rules, but it was impossible, because the rules are unclear.

Quick thread on potential longer term impact of US sanctions. It could push Russia to double down on its "digital ruble," which is a digital currency issued by the Bank of Russia. It is NOTHING like

Was on CNBC yesterday discussing crypto market reaction to SEC lawsuits against biggest exchange in the world and biggest exchange in the U.S. The green below indicates that the U.S. is just not the center of the crypto universe.

Just listened to House crypto hearing. Two totally different narratives.
Crypto advocates: We want to follow the rules, but the rules are not clear.
Crypto skeptics: The rules are perfectly clear, you just don't want to follow them.
