Went to a cemetery today looking for my great great grandfather's grave. Searched and searched for about two hours, no luck. Noticed a robin going from tombstone to tombstone ahead of me. Jokingly said "Are you showing me the way?" He led me right to it.
People hate their own art because it looks like they made it. They think if they get better, it will stop looking like they made it. A better person made it. But there's no level of skill beyond which you stop being you. You hate the most valuable thing about your art.
Every so often I mention this but if you want glass drawing references or just feel like browsing cool bottle info please visit the Society for Historical Archaeology's bottle site, run by a retired dude from the Bureau of Land Management:

It mimics the effect of warm or cool light on colors, similar to why a sunset makes everything look a little more golden. For artists, this means a more analogous color palette.
About 3 hours work on
@anerbananers
lovely face. Sketch plus color blocking plus a few critical details. The rest will probably take another forty hours lol.
I spent two hours today teaching a stranger how to draw hands via message because they randomly asked me & I'm totally invested in their future now lol.
I got my first vaccine shot in an abandoned shopping mall. Registration was an old jewelry counter. Observation was on plush carpet. I sat under a sign that got left behind: "sweater weather."
This drawing of Castiel (
@mishacollins
) is 5 years old this month. VERY IMPORTANT ART because everything before was sepia toned & timid. I was learning and thought I had to emulate dead masters. After this, my art began to look like mine! ๐๐๐
Not gonna lie being able to come online and like people's art is a big incentive for continuing to participate in life. Sometimes I really do think "I can't give up today I need to let this person know I saw what they made."
People who get vaccinated despite a fear of needles are amazing. I'm afraid of wasps & if you told me I had to let a wasp sting me I'd tell you to measure me for my coffin.
My final planet drawingโSaturn ๐งก She's the only planet I wanted to give a face, so I drew her as the incandescent

The Finnish words for yellow, blue, and whiteโkeltainen, sininen, and valkoinenโwould make really cool dragon names. Someone please take this idea.
