Did you folks know that this painting has a hidden face in it? It’s a bit of a leftover from the original narrative I had planned. I kept it because it blends in pretty well and could add a neat layer to the story if you happen to notice it. Can you find it?
InPrnt is currently offering free worldwide shipping for orders over 30 USD. If you live outside the USA this is a great chance to get this painting for a big discount. Link below!

! Maybe a bit off-topic, but you don’t have to have an innate talent to become a good artist. I didn’t start doing art until I was past 16 and my first creations were horrible DLC comic knock offs. All it takes is a lot of practice and the right resources.
Hey,
#PortfolioDay
! I am an illustrator from Finland working with clients such as Magic: The Gathering and animated shows like Netflix' The Dragon Prince. I'm also working on my own project on Patreon called "Five Seasons of Celebration" based on Finnish and Finno-Ugric themes!
I like to dream long-term about all sorts of personal projects and have 3 ideas for books that I've been cherishing for a while. I'm slowly working on the Finno-ugric paganism one. The next would be about the Sea, and the last (that this painting perhaps depicts) is about a city.
These two paintings are a part of the same folktale for my book, “Five Seasons of Celebration”. They are going to form a triptych with just the grand finale left to paint. I wonder what happens in between..
“The Emuu of Vernal Trees”, a new painting for “Five Seasons of Celebration” book project! “Emuu” is an old word from Karelia/eastern Finland that roughly translates to “Progenitor”.
Here’s my last painting for the set, knights of Dol Amroth return victorious to Minas Tirith for the coronation.
This is also my last digital painting I did for magic to come out ever! From this point onward it’s just oils. :)
Here it is! My very first original MTG oil painting "Songbirds' Blessing". 14x11 inches on Gessobord. I'm super excited to finally show this as it marks the culmination point of many years of retraining in order to switch to traditional mediums. Sold to private bidder.
Happy Halloween! For this year I'm running a 15% sale on spooky art like this. Just type h3llow33n at checkout to claim it! Link below.
The prints also come SIGNED! I've started doing all of my own prints to ensure quality so being able to sign them is a happy bonus.
My new year's commitment this year was that I'd get the ball rolling with my book project, and I did! I wonder if you are able to decipher some of its themes based on these paintings? "Five Seasons of Celebration" has a long way to go (years!), but I'm excited to keep going!

The Kickstarter for the Limited Edition print of "One, Two, Three" is live! Find it below or on my profile. There's an early bird tier for the next 24h.
I'm also giving away 1 Artist Proof print to a user randomly picked among people who share this during the next 72h!
@noneofuturism
Thank you! Glad you like it so much. So the core inspiration for this and most of my personal art is Finno-Ugric/lappish paganism, culture, customs and landscapes. Those principles always inform the general vibe of my work, but I rarely have anything super specific I’m 1/4
Really excited to announce soon what the limited edition of this painting will look like!
I’ve also just finished a 30x20 inch personal painting in oil that I’m hoping to show to you folks by March.
Going to be an exciting spring all around! Mailing list sign up below.
Here's to the end of
#2020
! I am glad I got so much personal work done. Hopefully, 2021 is even better in that regard! And for all of us in general. :)
From an iPad "napkin" sketch to final! I sometimes jot down emotions in this crude fashion if I'm on the go and don't have the time to think about the poses. After this I always think of body language first before facial expressions. For more proces imgs you can chck my Patrn!
I’ll be offering special signed prints of this one soonish! You can sign up to my mailing list for updates here:
In the meanwhile there’s a sale going on right now on inprnt if you’d like to check out my regular prints!
My apologies for reposting this. I wasn't entirely happy with how the first version turned out, so here's "Daughter of the Fresco" again with some changes! I hope you like this one better as well. As a bonus I've included the very 1st scribble of an idea I did for this one below.
New painting! "Summer is coming". I wasn't able to travel home this spring, so I wanted to do a painting that reminds me of it. Join my Patreon here if you would like to see some behind the scenes stuff:

Here's a breakdown thread for the "Inspiring Bard". Many thanks to my AD Zack Stella for commissioning it! It was definitely a fun card to paint. The main idea the card was supposed to convey is a bard waking up their party with a song. 1/6
Was digging through some old files and found this early concept for the Spring. The design ended up changing quite a bit during the painting process as they became endowed with branches and beard moss rather than a cloak.
These MTG works are really piling up! I’m also really excited about the future as I’ve just achieved an art milestone and finished an oil painting for MTG. It’s a goal I’ve worked towards for many years so I’m beyond excited. Eventually I’d like to do most of my art traditionally
Excited to finally start talking about this! I'm working on a book titled “Five Seasons of Celebration” (“Viiden Vuodenajan Juhla” in Finnish). The new painting here, “The Ancestors”, is a part of it, set at the end of the Autumn chapter.
1/4 I was taking Donato Giancola's mentorship class when I painted "Midsummer Dances". It is a quintessential personal piece for me both as a well for further ideas & as a sign that I had finally found what I liked to paint.
One of my paintings for Dominaria just dropped! “Raff, Weatherlight Stalwart” AD: Zack Stella There’s also going to be an oil repaint for this one later on.
Here are some progress pictures for this painting. Depending on the painting my process can be pretty organic and doesn't involve a lot of linework. I rely on having a strong mental image before I start. I also have some prints of this one available here:

"Celebrate the Harvest" breakdown! AD: Ovidio Cartagena!
This painting was challenging for the sheer amount of stuff that had to be included. Dancing, revelry, stalls, witchy folksy clothing attires, insane background structure...this one had to have it all!
#MTGMidnight
POV: you are John Singer Sargent casually painting amazing watercolour paintings from observation while riding a rickety horse-drawn carriage in the boiling hot Spanish summer.
“The Last warm day of Autumn” made it into the next IBA volume! Now with Spectrum gone it’s awesome to still have at least one art annual around. It’s a nice summary of what the folks in the industry have been up to during the year!
I never got around to finishing this, but I quite like the colours and light here so wanted to share. It was supposed to be a more run-of-the-mill fantasy painting for portfolio purposes.
This year was neat. Made some OK progress with the book, switched almost completely to traditiona mdiums and began freelancing fulltime. Struggled with the general worth of art,but after meeting so many art lovers at MTG events I feel reinvigorated. I hope you had OK year as well!
“The First Day of Spring” Quite a few people have requested a print of this so I’ve been thinking of doing a limited print run of it early next year. Sign on to my mailing list below if you’d like to get updates!
2 years ago I had the good fortune to work on an amazing project,
#thedragonprince
, as a background painter. For some BGs, I did just the block-in. It was a very collaborative effort from the whole amazing design team at Bardel.

Hey Noah, I wouldn’t be where I am now without that 4 parter ice cave painting video all those years back as well as all the instruction you guys did through Team Awesome. Thank you!
Daughter of the Fresco. The painting in the back is coming alive, pulling her within, making her part of the tapestry forever. The inspiration for this was a Baroque church in Vienna where I was attending a concert. I get my best inspiration from a combo of music & visual cues.
