When we are overstimulated, even if we are perceiving over-stimulation, we can go into what’s called our Freeze Response. When we are overwhelmed and stressed, instead of action, we SHUT DOWN.

Children whose needs weren’t met, or even taken seriously, become adults who are afraid they’re being needy when asking for healthy connection. This leads to adults who keep themselves independent. Stay gentle with this part, + remind it how human it is to want to connect.

Here’s a trauma response we don’t talk about enough: Stress About NO-Stress. When we’ve struggled for SO long, NOT struggling feels painful— literally, we become Hyper-Vigilant. If you’re waiting for the proverbial other shoe to drop…it’s a natural response.
