The GP business model is now non-viabile despite accrual of 👉£0 👈financial deficit (hospitals c£1.5bn) Patients & the public need to wake up 👀 & see what this is: an intentional, predetermined, strategic, non-evidence based, ideological dismantling of NHS general practice.

The @Conservatives , @DHSCgovuk & @NHSEngland have decided, rather than being the ‘stepping stone’ year to signal safety, stability, and hope - 2024 will instead signal reduced patient access to GP services as well as likely closures of GP practices across the country. 🧵👇

Govt: “GPs & their practice teams are hugely valued!” 🤥 Actions speak louder than words GPs will see ✂️ total practice £ per patient which has risen by just 👉£15 👈 in over 10 YEARS That is why: ⚠️ 1000 practices lost ⚠️ 2000 fewer GPs ⚠️ 6,000,000 more patients 👇

To = 2019/20 funding, we need 8.7% ⬆️ 1.9% = ✂️ to GP workforce 1.9% = ✂️ to Nurse workforce 1.9% = ✂️ to appointments 1.9% = ✂️ to patient services   @andrealeadsom “GP is a Government priority” @Jeremy_Hunt “……..” 2024 = General Election 👇

@andrealeadsom @Jeremy_Hunt 🕯️has been blown out for your local GP practice - it didn’t need to be this way We wanted to meet halfway & agree a package for the sake of GPs, their teams & our patients but the opportunity has been lost We see 1.39 million pts everyday We are 90% of NHS contacts What next?

@doctor_katie I would love to know what their plan is when it all goes wrong and NHS GP is effectively unfit for purpose. It will snap and closures will accelerate. This is disastrous 😞

@doctor_katie I don't disagree, but general practice has long needed a different business model...but has resisted it. You know my thoughts on why the partnership model is long past its sell-by date, and why size and scale and external investment is necessary. Always happy to explain why.

@doctor_katie The problem is and has always been the partnership business model. As businesses beholden to the NHS our livelihoods are on the line not unlike any other third party on an NHS tender list. Squeeze ‘em dry or simply dismiss - our deficits and finances are not their concern 🙁
