In a just concluded meeting of Suburban One League athletic directors and principals, 21 of the 24 schools voted in favor of playing fall sports with delayed starts. Cheltenham opted not to play while Harry S. Truman and Springfield abstained.

The high school spring sports season was supposed to start in full in less than a week. Now, because of the darned virus, you drive by a school at 4 pm and the fields are empty. Here's hoping some kind of season can be cobbled together at some point. Fingers crossed.

Quakertown's Collin Gaj wins PIAA Class 3A title at 145 pounds with a 7-1 victory over Waynesburg Central's Mac Church, a two-time PIAA champ. Gaj becomes Quakertown's first PIAA champ since Pat Flynn in 2006.

Bristol wins region 3 title with 13-0 win over jp mascaro in five innings. Blue Jays will begin state tournament play on Saturday in DuBois (which is north of Altoona).

Quakertown beat Garnet Valley 53-9 in D-1 Class AAA Dual semis to advance to Saturday's (3 pm) title match against Spring-Ford at Upper Dublin. Panthers also clinched spot in state dual tournament. S-F beat CR South 34-20 in other semi.
