Every Juneteenth, I think about my ancestors. Here's Susan Emma Fox. Born into slavery in ~1860 in Yalobusha County, MS. Daughter of Polly Fox, an enslaved woman and John Fox, a slave owner. Grandma Susie was my grandmother's grandmother. She died in Chicago in 1955.

My family went to Ghana in 2018. It was very much a full circle moment having grown up being told about the two brothers from the Gold Coast, West Africa. It's amazing that their oral history survived from their kidnapping in the early 1800s to now.
