Hi
@elonmusk
, a question from Snopes: Did you realize when you tweeted this screenshot that it's from a satire website? And if you did, did you consider labeling it as satire so as not to confuse people? Thanks. (If you prefer to reply by email: david.emery

"Swift and swip in" aside, it has been correctly pointed out that the preceding clip gives the misleading impression that Trump linked Desert Storm to Vietnam. He did not, as can be seen in the longer clip below:
Hey politics twitter, AOC did not tweet this dumb message about electric cars being more reliable in hurricanes. This codswallop has been circulating since 2019.

The claim that there was vaccine involvement IS baseless without autopsy results or other medical evidence. If an autopsy indicates vaccine involvement, Snopes will update. If autopsy indicates no involvement, will you and your many Snopes-bashing followers acknowledge it?
Medford Police: "This is a made up graphic and story. We did not arrest this person for arson, nor anyone affiliated with Antifa or 'Proud Boys' as we’ve heard throughout the day. Also, no confirmed gatherings of Antifa which has also been reported."
❌ The video clip below was ripped entirely out of context and is still being misrepresented. Obama was condemning the mentality he described, not promoting it.
Full, unedited video is here:

It was a hoax when
@RealJamesWoods
shared it and it's still a hoax,
@BigJoeBastardi
. AOC didn't delete this tweet, because it never existed in the first place.
Dear Twitter: When people show you this photograph of a Nazi and say it's George Soros (who was 15 when WWII ended), they're LYING to you. It's really Oskar Groning, an actual SS officer who at Auschwitz. This is his obit from 2018 (note photos):
Nothing nefarious happened and this was in no way due to criticizing
@elonmusk
. I used tweet erase to erase some old tweets and it nuked my account but now I’m back and I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers.
This image is being circulated under false pretenses again (in this case by a
#QAnon
disinformant).
They want you to think it shows Rep. Ilhan Omar at a "terrorist training camp" but it's an Associated Press photo taken 4 years before Omar was born.
@Edwin07011
@MikeCabor
You're lying. The speech - the WHOLE speech with context - is easy to find on the internet. Why are you using doctored video clips to misrepresent what Obama said? Here is the video and transcript:

Still spreading on political Twitter: the dangerous lie that U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar was photographed at a "terrorist training camp." In point of fact, the AP photo was taken years before she was born.
An edited clip has been shared widely online with audio added, making it appear as if a crowd began chanting an anti-Biden chant when Obama was on stage in Michigan.
Instead, Obama was heckled and the crowd then chanted in support of the former president:
Police have identified the Sydney knife attack suspect as Joel Cauchi, 40, of Queensland. He was neither a Muslim nor a Jew. He had a history of mental illness.
Rumor-mongers currently battling over whether the Sydney knife attack suspect is an "Islamic terrorist" or a "Jewish terrorist."
Who needs facts when you can sow hatred and division NOW?
"The heart of fascist politics is the destruction of truth. Fascist politics is based on a friend/enemy distinction where your enemy's not a legitimate opponent. Your enemy is hiding terrible crimes, and you can't treat them as any kind of normal opponent." – Jason Stanley
Not only was this photo not taken on Epstein's island,
@rosemcgowan
, it was staged using a Bill Clinton lookalike by artist Alison Jackson (one of a series, in her words, of "imagined private moments" of celebrities).
I’ve been seeing a lot of people quoting stats that show more athletes died in the last year than have died in the last 38 years. Is this true? No, let’s chat about it. A 🧵👇🏻

Snopes is not a reliable site,
what they usually report as fake is true,
so if Snopes says that it is fake most likely it is true!
Just letting you know.
Khrushchev 60 years ago...."Your children's children will live under communism. You Americans are so gullible. No, you won't accept communism outright; but, we will keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you will finally wake up and find you already have Communism.”
HOAX ALERT: Old videos, such as the one below that was actually shot during protests after George Floyd's death in police custody in 2020, are being passed off in May 2023 as vids of Target stores being looted due to the company's LGBTQ pride policies.
1/ People of Twitter, please stop repeating the lie that if the Senate fails to convict Trump in an impeachment trial, it "nullifies" his first term and makes him eligible for two more.
Yeah, let's talk about disinformation campaigns. For example, how no such article ever appeared on Snopes. And how this "screenshot" is being spread far and wide despite being so crudely photoshopped.

"The apocalyptic world of the paranoid, De Martino suggested, is characterized by an 'excess of meaning,' a significance overload that makes everything not quite what it seems to be."
Pro-tip: If you're trying to introduce facts in a Twitter conversation with someone who dismisses Snopes as "biased" or "unreliable," don't bring the debate to a screeching halt by just dropping a Snopes link on them. They won't even look at it. Instead... (1/2)
Footage was staged and shot in 2014 in Birmingham, UK, for feature film Kaleidoscope Man. No connection whatsoever to Ukraine.

Regardless of what you think of Jane Fonda, the tale about her turning over notes from American POWs to their North Vietnamese captors is a fabrication.
A reminder that political misinformation isn't a left or right thing. It's a hyperpartisan thing. It's an extremist thing. One finds hyperpartisanism and extremism on both the left and the right. For some people, politics trumps truth.
Infowars headline claimed 200 were arrested in Australia for DELIBERATELY starting bushfires.
That's false. Why?
Out of 183 people arrested in connection with the bushfires, exactly 24 were charged with DELIBERATELY setting them.
Someone should make a snopes to fact check the extremely dishonest website
@snopes
They blamed the wild fires on climate change, said info wars were conspiracy theorists for claiming the fires were really started by 200 people instead
Why?
They clarified it was 183 people lol
Our survey last January found Americans were divided along party lines in terms of how they view the value and objectivity of scientists and their ability to act in the public interest.
Curious about what sort of conspiracy theories were already circulating not months, not weeks, not days, but hours after the 9/11 attacks occurred? A thread:

True, the 2005 video "Loose Change" helped inject fringe conspiracy theories into the mainstream, but the main themes of 9/11 trutherism (and indeed QAnon) were already in play and being spammed around the internet within 24 hours of 9/11.
