Today we were in the village of Bilozerka, west of Kherson, where two dozen houses were underwater. It took 24 hours for the flood to come, when it did some were inundated within an hour and a half. A lifetime of possessions lost, many pets and animals too

Safe now for children to play on, and for adults to peer at. Destroyed Russian armour and spent missile casings now displayed open air in a relatively safe Kyiv. Not so much history but reality

Ultimately Johnson's private trip to Russia, which was under discussion in August/Sept 2013, never took place - probably because of Russia's invasion of Crimea in early 2014. But the earlier emails show both sides appeared keen on the unusual excursion
