Additionally, if any sites out there are looking for someone to write and/or talk about basketball for them, or any teams are looking for scouts, my DM's are always open.
Been out of college for a year, still searching for my first full-time job, hoping to make progress there!
Wanted to thank everyone who followed and supported me here in my first year covering the Sixers for
@RTRSPodcast
.
Had an incredible time, and hope everyone enjoyed the articles I wrote and the videos I posted. The support really does mean the world to me.
Trading for Buddy Hield — Good! He'll make them better.
Trading Pat Bev for Cam Payne — Pretty unnecessary, Payne is worse than Bev, don't understand it.
Trading Jaden Springer to their arch rival for a 2nd round pick — I fell to my knees and cried out in pain.
"I called timeout. The referee looked right at me, and ignored me. Tyrese Maxey got the ball. I called timeout again, he ignored me again. Then the melee started." – Nick Nurse at his postgame presser on what happened at the end of the game.

Nico Batum said postgame he was able to block Tyler Herro's 3 in the clutch because the Sixers coaching staff showed him the exact the play the Heat ended up running just a minute before.
"Coaches showed me that play literally like a minute before. So I was expecting that play."
“The steps that [Maxey] has taken every single year has been amazing. Hardest worker I’ve ever been around … he’s been our best player this season … it’s like finally we have this one guy who’s just a franchise player who’s always happy.”
Joel Embiid on Tyrese Maxey:
Pretty sure Lowry just purposefully passed up an open layup in order to jump backward and fall over an injured Caleb Martin on the ground to get an And-One layup instead
Joel Embiid missed the first 2 seasons of his career with severe foot injuries, while also enduring the trauma of losing his younger brother, and pushed through all of it to become a generational basketball player.
He deserves far better than the way some people talk about him.
“[Batum] has guarded the smallest guys like Trae Young to the tallest man in the NBA like Wemby. His defensive versatility is second to none. Tonight he guarded Herro, Butler, Bam, what’s he’s done for this team has been remarkable.”
Tyrese Maxey on Nico Batum:
Never gonna stop laughing thinking about this. Nick Nurse saw Tobias Harris throw one inbound pass and said, "Never again."
Immediately subbed in Nico Batum, who was DNP the entire game up to that point, just so he could throw one pass and sub out again.
Josh Hart did not have a single game during the regular season where he hit 4 threes.
He has hit 4 threes in every single game of the Sixers-Knicks series.
The sequence that won the Sixers the game:
1) Jaquez swipes down on Embiid, gives the Sixers free throws
2) Lowry poke-around steal, Batum saves the ball, Embiid 3 in transition
3) Embiid circus shot and-one off the O board
4) Embiid doubled, finds Oubre for another and-one
“I know [Joel] had 50, but his voice, his presence, his passion was huge. He didn’t let us get pushed around. They were trying to push us around, be aggressive w/ us, and he set the tone early. We’re not going for that. We’re not getting pushed around.”
Maxey on Joel Embiid:
“If they went to the timeout to draw something up, we would switch up [our defense]. We’d go 1-3-1 zone, 2-3 zone, and even a Box-and-One.”
Tobias Harris on how Nick Nurse always changes the Sixers defense after a timeout:
1. Game 7 vs 2021 Hawks
2. Game 7 vs 2019 Raptors
3. Game 6 vs 2023 Celtics
4. Game 2 vs 2024 Knicks
5. Game 5 vs 2021 Hawks
The five most painful Sixers playoff losses of the Embiid era, just off the top of my head
The Sixers third most-played lineup during the playoffs was George Hill, Shake Milton, Matisse Thybulle, Tobias Harris and Dwight Howard. That lineup finished with a Net Rating of -16.0 points per 100 possessions, per

.
“I know that he’s a soldier. I know that he’s tough … obviously everybody gasped. Everybody’s heart drops. You hear the crowd. But Jo, he’s a fighter. He used to fight lions and tigers and bears and stuff.”
Kelly Oubre on Joel Embiid’s first half injury scare:
🚨🚨 VIDEO BREAKDOWN 🚨🚨
The Sixers offensive execution against the Hawks in Game 3 was on point all night, particularly on this one play — Chicago Slice — that routinely burned Atlanta, each time with a different option. Hope you all check it out, always means a lot. Thanks!!!
Joel Embiid officially finishes with the season with 1,353 points in 1,309 minutes played in 39 games.
He joins 1962 Wilt Chamberlain as the 2nd player in NBA history to finish a season with more points than minutes (w/ a minimum of at least 50 minutes played in the season).
After the Knicks called the timeout, Jalen Brunson went up to talk to a ref, so Kyle Lowry ran off the Sixers bench and went all the way down to the other side of the court to also talk to the same ref.
“Tonight they were just doubling anywhere as soon as I put the ball on the floor. If you’re gonna leave a 45% 3pt shooter in Tyrese Maxey open just to get the ball out of my hands, well good luck.”
Joel Embiid on having 10 assists in tonight’s win over Denver:
“I appreciate Coach Nurse. I shot him a text before the Hawks game. Told him how much I appreciate him, and how he’s let me play through mistakes and grow.”
Tyrese Maxey on Nick Nurse:
Important PSA -- the Sixers' franchise record for points in a game is 68 by Wilt Chamberlain (Wilt had his 100 point game with the Warriors)
Joel Embiid needs 15 more points in the next 14 minutes of gameplay to break that.
“Nick [Nurse] is really fun to play for. He brings a lot of excitement to the games … it’s a free style of play. He draws up plays for everybody. He’s just a coach who knows his players.”
Buddy Hield on playing for Nick Nurse:
This is a response to a 7 minute video where I continually point out the Sixers missing box outs and the Knicks doing a good job to take advantage of it lol
It's always gonna be remembered as the James Harden trade but the Sixers turning PJ Tucker's contract into Nico Batum literally saved their contention window
He only played 3 minutes in last night's game, but this Cam Payne 3 was just a huge play for the Sixers.
Hadn't played for the first 35 minutes of the game, subs in cold, and nails a big 3 the very first time he touches the ball. Insane.
Subbing in Nico Batum after he didn't play at all for 47 minutes, just so he can make the inbound pass at the end of the game, is the funniest thing I've ever seen.
Springer is just 2 months older than Brandon Miller and is coming off a stretch of hilariously good defense against Luka Doncic and Steph Curry.
Why is now the time to sell low on him?
I can already tell I'm gonna get mad at people blaming Embiid for that loss when the problem was that he got double and triple teamed all quarter and his teammates completely lost their composure.
Unable to get him the ball, unable to get a board, unable to get a stop on Brunson
“I don’t overreact to [foul trouble]. How many times does a guy get 2 and he ends up with 3? I let guys play through.”
Nick Nurse on his decision to keep Joel Embiid in after he got his 3rd foul in the first half:
“Joel was getting on Buddy, he was telling him, ‘Man just shoot the ball. We know what you can do, that’s what you’re here for.’”
Maxey on what Joel Embiid told Buddy and other a sixers role players at halftime:
3 really great passes from Embiid already — the first no look hook pass to get Tobias an open 3 that he missed, an assist to Tobias on his cut, and that lightning quick skip pass to Oubre in the opposite corner for the 3.
“In the first half, I talked to Buddy Hield a little bit, we were trying to get it to Joel a little too much. In the second, [Buddy and I] were like when we come in, we gotta shoot. I mean, we were wide open.”
Nico Batum on him and Buddy Hield shooting to break the Heat’s zone:
The Joel Embiid free throw discourse is once again incredibly dumb.
Literally every superstar ever gets a lot of Free Throws. Imagine if this app existed in 1987 and people were discounting Michael Jordan's 37 PPG because he was attempting 11.9 Free Throws per game.
"I love Reed. He's a bench guy. He comes in. He's 6-foot-9. He's a tough guy. He can hit threes. He has a little mid-range game, but he's a bear in the paint." — Hubie Brown on Paul Reed, his favorite basketball player in the world.
“I liked it that [Embiid] took 6 threes. I think it’s part of his game that he should incorporate more. That should be more of an every night thing because he’s such a good three point shooter.”
Nick Nurse on Joel Embiid, who shot 3-for-6 on threes today:
“I told P-Reed, ‘I’ve been with you for 3 years, and I’ve seen you get every offensive rebound, every defensive rebound, block every shot and get steals. I want you to get back to that, because that’s who you are.’”
Tyrese Maxey on what he told Paul Reed before tonight’s game:
Getting knocked down trying to sell an illegal screen call, recovering to closeout on a nearby player, then closing out on the shot just for the heck of it, all within 5 seconds of play.
Kyle Lowry is such a maniac. There's never been anyone quite like him.
Probably my favorite Buddy Hield possession in Philly to date.
Beautiful skip pass to Council, then crazy good instincts to relocate on the rebound and hit a tough movement 3 in the corner.
“[I was] trying to make sure he didn’t land on me, bc we all know the issue I had w/ Kuminga landing on me, I had some flashbacks … I didn’t mean to hurt anybody. Just in those situations, I’ve got to protect myself.”
Joel Embiid on his flagrant foul against Mitchell Robinson:
Last night was the first ever game that the Sixers got to try out a Maxey-Lowry-Batum-Oubre-Embiid lineup.
The Sixers finished with a Net Rating of +26.5 Points per 100 in the 34 possessions that lineup played together.
Not many players can do what Ben Simmons does here in immediately reacting to the dump off pass, pivoting in the complete opposite direction and blocking Thomas Bryant. A truly special defender.
Josh Hart didn't have a single game during the 2023-24 regular season where he hit 4 threes
He has already hit 4 threes in both Games 1 and 2 of the Sixers-Knicks series
🚨🚨 VIDEO BREAKDOWN 🚨🚨
One of my absolute favorite things to watch during the 2nd half of the Sixers' season has been this backdoor cut Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris have perfected. Tobi above the left break, Joel on the right elbow, Ben in the middle, bucket every time.
“As soon as [Springer] got in, his man was in heavy nail help, and I sprayed it out to him, and he didn’t shoot. And I said, ‘Nah, you gotta shoot the ball’ … I want him to be confident when he’s out there. He’s a really good basketball player.”
Tyrese Maxey on Jaden Springer:
“The one thing I’m not gonna do is give up. No matter what happens. Gotta keep pushing, gotta keep fighting. Gotta keep putting my body on the line for my family, for this city, for this team — I can’t just sit back and feel bad about myself.”
Joel Embiid on playing thru injury:
