Had to come to Wall Street for a #COVID test because I couldn’t get one by me. Saw this line at @CityMD as I was going into my own appointment. 😵 We need testing available to everyone, everywhere—transit hubs, schools, major intersections, job sites, and rapid tests at-home!

Spoke w/ my friend who grew up in this building, & whose family was displaced due to the fire. She said heat was always an issue — when she was growing up, they used to leave the oven door open to keep warm. These conditions are criminal, and the owners should be treated as such.

The Bronx building that caught fire, 333 E. 181st Street, had many complaints including no heat, broken radiators, and a broken pipe. In December, there were 10 complaints in one apartment! You can see this info at the HPD website.

I'm appalled that some Councilmembers are introducing a bill to repeal ranked-choice voting & stop a democratically-chosen process that nearly 74% of voters said they wanted. At a time when the GOP is making it harder to vote across the US, New York needs to lead by example.

My heart hurts for the person killed in Times Square today. Her death was senseless and entirely preventable. Protective barriers on our subways and real mental health services for folks in need are the bare minimum. Infrastructure and healthcare are both public safety.

Kalief Browder spent 2yrs in solitary before he took his own life. Brandon Rodriguez was locked in “segregation” in a shower cell before he was found dead. Unbelievable that @NYCCOBA1 would laugh at this loss of life. Rikers is indeed a stain on our city & we cannot go backwards.

Support for “punitive segregation” from @ericadamsfornyc who says that people who are violent will go back into punitive segregation after January 1st. “Enjoy the reprieve now,” he says. That line gets a chuckle from union reps here.

My mom passed away 3 1/2 weeks ago. Her funeral was on May 1, which was also her birthday. Last week was my first Mother’s Day without my mother. To say that it’s been easy would be a lie, but I am so grateful for all the love and support that’s been shown to me day after day.
