Updates!
I left
@NotionHQ
last spring and have been taking some time off to explore and recharge after 4 wonderful years.
I spent 2 months modernizing a side project. 1 month at the yoga studio. 1 month flying around. 2 months making trips to the grocery store (no more free

The shades down phenomenon is so strange to me.
People pay big money for bars and rooftops with a view.
And then when they have the best view from 30,000 feet, they close the window. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Introducing Logo Layout!
My latest
@figmadesign
plugin that optically scales and distribute logos in a grid.
The algorithm takes into account the proportions of each logo so they all look great together.
Update from
@Twitter
engineering!
We open sourced the algorithm this afternoon.
That's great if you know code, but in case you don't, we built a visual tool to help you see how your tweets will rank.
My first
@figmadesign
plugin is out! It’s a lightweight UI around faker.js
Autogenerate:
- Names
- Addresses
- Phone numbers
- Words
- Lorem Ipsum

Wrote about my experience building and launching a
@figmadesign
plugin.
If you’ve thought about building your own, I hope this helps you understand everything involved.
Can’t believe it’s already been a year
@NotionHQ
!
The team has grown 2x.
Users have grown 4x.
And I’ve definitely grown a lot. Although not sure what the multiplier is 😉
Do you ever think about how you’re a designer who has the power and skills to reimagine the entire world and you’ve chosen to direct that energy toward running A/B tests on CTA copy on tiny screens?
@climatepaige
I’m taking group guitar lessons and it’s a room full of dudes, which doesn’t work great for me, but could work great for you 😂
I even tried going to church a few times but it’s not for me.
Staring volunteering at a plant nursery next week. Worst case I get some new plants.
There’s never been a better time to be a front-end developer.

The complicated back-end barriers are almost entirely gone. All that matters is the idea and the user experience.

I never wanted to leave Minnesota but I left for a job. Have had a lot of fun exploring but I definitely think about what I could have built if I had stayed.
Staying in one place for a long time is incredibly underrated.

Good morning Twitter! We’re looking for a Visual Designer at

on marketing, brand, and some product. Please DM me with any Qs 🙌
The first rule of web development is:
Never say you know how to make HTML emails.
The second rule of web development is:
Never say you know how to make HTML emails.
I've always found brand design to be the hardest kind of design. You've really gotta boil things down to their essence and sometimes if you boil too long you realize there is nothing there.
Playing with
@usehonk
has definitely reignited my desire to build an iOS app. The sounds and haptic feedback make it feel more like a physical product than a digital one. Harder to do that with web.
Design Engineering is the embodiment of Steve's "Design is how it works." principle.
I believe it's going to be one of the most important roles and differentiators in the next generation of software companies.
San Francisco doesn’t do air conditioning and it is currently 92º in my apartment which means I have resorted to making a DIY swamp cooler for my MBP.
Good news is it’s working. Until the ice runs out.
In the switch to working from home, we’ve heard from our team that it can be hard to know when to stop work for the night.
So, to symbolize our business hours (we have flex start times), our website is now closed from 7am-7pm in your local time. 😇
Using Notion with multiple emails was a pain. Constantly logging out and logging back in just to get to the right content was 🤬
Now you can quickly switch between all your workspaces and accounts in one place 🥰
Great to launch this into the world!
The best part of
@NotionHQ
is it can become anything you imagine, but many (myself included) find the possibilities intimidating at first.
Hoping this will provide a helpful jump start ⚡️

We're looking for an engineer to join me and
@baldwinsam
as we improve and expand our marketing site
@NotionHQ
Sometimes I go weeks writing code or designing marketing things without using
@NotionHQ
heavily.
And then I finally get back into using the product to its full potential and remember ... oh yeah ... this is really good.
The best writers write like they speak.
That's why you should speak instead of type! Use speech-to-text and watch your writing magically improve 10x.
It was within you all along.
You just didn't know how to let it out.
Lol... giving my landlord notice that I’m moving out of this burning city.
Was just going to say “for the rest of the year”, but GMAIL went ahead and autocompleted it for me.
I'd really like to share more of my life with people, but I also refuse to use any
@Facebook
product.
Do I just randomly text people photos of what I'm eating for dinner? How will they see my pesto?
.
@X
has given me everything.
3 great jobs
4.5k friends
And only 2 mental illnesses (all curable)
I can't believe there are people who are still not on this app.
A big reason modern design "looks the same" is scale.
Try launching a bespoke design in 10 locales and I bet you'll find yourself designing something that "looks the same" too.
🤘 Starting today, Notion is free for personal use.
We used to have a storage limit on our free plan, but no more! Everyone should have access to our tools to create what they need.
Write, plan, and get organized at .
The time to make a component is the moment when you need to use something in two places, not the moment you think you might eventually need to reuse it.
🚢 Just shipped customer stories! Every digital product has a case studies page and it's challenging to produce something original and interesting. Some things we learned along the way...
One of the most confusing — and coolest — parts about a career in design is the optionality. I could be designing software or laying out print magazines or cranking out logos or prompt engineering or a/b testing cereal boxes or creating propaganda or crafting brands or telling
