The World According to Championship Manager 1997/98 & The World According to Championship Manager 2001/02 are both available now in paperback and on Kindle!
Gavin Peacock of course who covered the women’s World Cup for the BBC despite never playing women’s football.
What’s wrong with these people? Get a grip
Joey Barton (
@Joey7Barton
) has put his finger on an issue others are afraid to speak on.
I agree with him on female pundits & co comm. Presenting & interviewing is different.
The whole thing is indicative of a wider societal woke malaise that will not hear opposing opinion.
Sunday will mark the 24th anniversary of CM9798’s release. We have some content for the site which I’m looking forward to sharing.
What are your earliest memories of this great game? 🤔
What I love about PES6 is you can score goals that look like goals that happen in real life. Look at big Al leap here to nod home a John Barnes cross. Poetry.
🚨 EXCL: Roberto Martinez has reached verbal agreement to become Portugal coach. Appointment as Fernando Santos successor likely to be finalised towards end of next week. 49yo Spaniard has had club + int’l interest since leaving Belgium role

CM9798 was released 25 years ago tomorrow! To celebrate the anniversary there’ll be a quiz to get stuck into first thing, followed by our collated top 25 players list which we’ll countdown throughout the day
I’m really gutted about Glenn Roeder. He’s not going to go down in history as our best ever manager but his 15 months in charge had some great and ridiculous moments. He somehow kept a cool head through it all (short thread follows)
I’m reviewing SNES football games this month. Here’s Super Soccer to start with, a game I loved as a kid. It also turns out you can lack match fitness to play video games.
Turf shredding soccer action…
2001/02 is one of my favourite ever seasons following Newcastle United. Due to absolutely nothing happening tonight, here’s a mega thread of that season
You won’t believe this but I remember watching Jermaine Jenas’ debut for Newcastle and the guy next to me said “one day that boy will host the World Cup draw.” Made us all look daft now
Really hope Clive Tyldesley is creative in his introduction tonight.
“Welcome to England vs Czech Republic in what would have been the Euro 96 final if Gazza was an inch taller”
Imagine saving a penalty in the World Cup with your Dad watching. I once scored a headed consolation in front of mine in an Under 14s league game and he told me my work rate was poor. That’s similar.
Been visiting my Dad for 20 minutes and 19 of them have been dedicated to him telling me the biggest criminal of the 86 World Cup was Peter Shilton for being out jumped by Maradona, hand or no hand. A wound that will never heal.
Next up to the SNES Review plate is ISS Deluxe. The ISS series became immensely popular on the PlayStation but how does an early iteration stack up on the SNES?
Now that it’s recorded I’m delighted to share that episode 1 of the brand new CM podcast will be out on Monday
@RossBell1984
and I will be joined by Championship Manager founders Paul and Ov Collyer to talk through the series from the very beginning to what the future holds
🎙️ Luis Enrique to the coaches of football academies and schools:
"All children have to play in all positions. Put your child development first, not your coaching career."
It’s been bugging me who Mancini looks like and I’ve settled on an elaborate story where Richie from Bottom gets a steady job instead of being hit in the head all day by Eddie
This month we passed 8 years of running , which started as just me blogging a save but now has multiple writers, resources, a podcast and an annual tournament.
All of that is down to YOU for embracing my nonsense and making a CM Community. Thank you!
I present to you - the most average footballer in the world. Except technically, where I can only assume he kicks everything with his studs or something
I’m interviewing Tommy Svindal Larsen tonight. I know, I don’t know what my life is either. It’ll be on the podcast later this month.
Any questions for the great man?
Obviously there’s no MOTD tonight so I’m going to watch this episode from 10th January 1998 at half 10. It’s got Des. I don’t know the games or scores but I’m sure it’ll be a good one. Join in if you want

One for the CM purists but a good friend of mine has created a program that captures who retires at the end of a season and who their regen is. Testing it later, 23 years and still we find new things!
Ronaldo is probably my favourite non-NUFC player of the 90s so it's a good job he is the focus of

on
@90sfootball
. Here is the evolution of Ronaldo through Championship Manager from 1995 to 2003. Including his famous date of birth change...
I hate promoting my own work but tomorrow’s Retirement Home is absolutely wild. There are two new strikers moving in, including this man.
See you at 11am
Seeing as it’s Roy Keane’s birthday and we’re being treated to Robbie Savage on commentary, let’s remind ourselves of what happened when angry Roy tried to sign that zany Savage
Sad to see the end of QK. Three great people involved plus some incredible guests.
When I helped out with the CM9798 live matches during Covid, I was happy to volunteer my time but they insisted on giving me something. I was blown away when this bundle arrived!
It warms my bitter old heart to see so many of you chatting CM. It’ll never get old. Look after each other, these are strange and unusual times where the only constant is Bobby Gould getting sacked by Wales
