Due to the dynamic nature of the fire, a small flame can turn into a huge fire very quickly. Wind, weather and available fuel are all factors. For this reason, evacuation levels can jump from Level 1 to Level 3 in the blink of an eye.

Heavy rain is possible late tonight which could result in flash flooding and debris flows around areas recently burned by the Riverside fire, including the Highway 224 corridor between Estacada and Ripplebrook. Avoid the area tonight if possible.

please do not detour on to county or forest service roads on Mt. Hood to get around the US 26 closure as you could get stranded, without cell service. The roads may not be a through road or maintained for winter travel. Use I-84 to US 197 or US 97 to get around closure.
I-84 is now open between Troutdale and Bonneville. U.S. 26 is still closed between Rhododendron and Warm Springs. OR 35 is also closed at the junction with U.S. 26. is updated when road conditions change.
This is the time to conserve water. Please avoid watering your house or lawn so we don’t negatively affect the firefighter’s water supply. We’re in this together.
