✨️Visual Demo Reel✨️
Heya, I'm Calvin! I'm a mixed-indigenous, trans male voice actor based in Vancouver, Canada!
Everything in my reel was recorded remotely from my broadcast quality home studio

Just... Ugh... Gentle reminder that the W-word (we don't say its name) associated with native culture, is not an appropriate thing to make your scary video game monster creature. Got another audition recently asking to cast for one. 😕
This is a bill made to kill LGBTQ+ kids. Not only does it ban any education relating LGBTQ+ topics, it "requires educators and administrators to effectively ‘out’ known LGBTQ+ students to their parents without their consent."
Outing kids to abusive parents can LITERALLY kill them
Voice acting as a career is HARD. Anyone who ever says "Oh, your job is easy. You just talk." Has never experienced the crushing feeling of being so close to booking a big role and then losing it, or the overwhelming feeling of helplessness that comes with not booking for
This bill is literally sentencing trans kids to death.
That is not hyperbole.
As someone who started his transition at 15, I will tell you with a straight fucking face that I would be DEAD now if I hadn't been able to start my transition then. This can't be allowed to happen.
More diversity in anime is ALWAYS good. Every time a VA who's LGBTQ+, black, indigenous, SWANA, neurodiverse, or a part of any other underrepresented group breaks their way in, it's an ABSOLUTE WIN. And I'm gonna celebrate every single role earned by every single one of us 💙
I started my transition at 16. My dysphoria was crippling. If i hadnt been able to transition then, I know for a FACT I wouldn't be alive now.
Making it illegal for kids to transition KILLS THEM. This has never been about protecting kids. It's always been about killing them.
I still can't believe this is real. If you know me, you know that it means more than words can describe for me to be able to say this:
You can hear me on radios across Appalachia, (and in a random encounter with a friendly neighbour) in the newest update for Fallout 76!!! 💙💛
I genuinely never thought I'd be able to say this, but I now have my first ever ON-CAMERA credit!!! 😄
You can see me as Detective Bisard in episode 3 of Heartland Homicide on Super Channel and Amazon Prime Video!
My first announcement of the year and to say it's a BIG one for me would be the understatement of the century.
It's still completely unreal to me that I get to say this, but you can hear my ANIME DEBUT as Stewart Huguenot in Spirit Chronicles!!!
@LiamODellUK
@YouTube
Low usage???? Theyre on half of the videos I watch!!
Creators should be able to give permission to specific people's channels to create subtitles. Like mods, it would be people they know and could trust to caption things right. Removing the feature entirely is a mistake.
Shouts out to all the VAs who have been auditioning diligently with all their hearts but haven't been cast in months. Your effort is valid and you're getting stronger with every take! Keep at it!! Your next role might be the one you're auditioning for right now!
I dont EVER wanna hear anyone say POC VAs are taking all the roles from white VAs when the most prominent Native anime character was voiced by a white man a literal year ago, while only a handful of Native VAs are big names in the industry rn. Theres still SO much progress needed
I got the okay to say this SO HEY!!! I voice Normal Archer Number 3---I mean Wil in Fire Emblem: Heroes!!!
Voicing in a Fire Emblem game has been a HUGE dream for me since I played FE: Awakening when I was 12, so I can't begin to say what an honor this is ❤️
@cyaboron
I appreciate you genuinely asking! Yes, the W-word I'm referring to was used as the monster in Until Dawn, for example.
To speak or even write its name is said to draw it in, so it's disrespectful and can be distressing to native folks to see it being casually depicted in media.
I truly cannot put into words how excited I am to say this, but you can hear me as the voice of Mel Masters, son of Ken, in Street Fighter 6!!! Thank you SO much to
@AtlasTalent
@CapcomUSA_
and everyone else involved for having me on as Mel!!
Actors. Are NOT. Their characters.
If you personally dislike a character for whatever reason, that is not ever, EVER an excuse to take it out on the actor. Anjali is a wonderful person. I don't care what your opinions on Dori are, you do NOT take out those feelings on the actor.
We started off okay since I announced Dori but unfortunately that didn’t last long. DMs are closed, you guys. For folks who’ve been kind throughout, I appreciate you. Actors are not their characters, at the end of the day.
We saw him on stream tonight, but wanted to say again that I'm so thrilled to have been able to once again portray my boy Jeremy King in the new DLC for
@Patch_Games
Our Life!
It was so happy (ironically lol) to get to voice the sad lad one more time! 💚
I really, truly wanted to believe this wouldn't keep happening.
That with the massive shift in the VO industry these past years, pushing to authentically cast POC actors in POC roles that things had finally changed. But Shaman King proved me wrong. (1/9)
It REALLY irks me when people assume a relationship isn't LGBT+ just because the two people in the relationship are a man and a woman. Like. Bi and Pan people exist??? Trans people exist??? Ace people exist??? Really bugs me when people forget that.
I am SO livid rn. Holy shit. I don't want to hear ANYONE saying our industry is all "fair and equal now! :D" again. If your actor is facing backlash from racists you DAMN well stand by them. Showing you're willing to bow to them with enough pressure is vile.
I still can't believe this is real, but you can hear me as Squire Rayan and several others NPCs in the new High Isle DLC for The Elder Scrolls Online!!!
Being in an Elder Scrolls game was one of my BIGGEST dreams, and I'm BEYOND ecstatic to finally say I've fulfilled it!!!!!
Having an engineer tell me "Hey before we disconnect I just wanted to say, whatever your setup is, it's fantastic! It sounded like you were right here in the studio!" is literally the biggest compliment I have received in my LIFE 😭💙
Reminder: VO classes are very helpful, but they are NOT necessary to succeed.
If you can't constantly afford hundred dollar classes, there are still SO many other things you can do to improve and keep honing your craft. I've only ever been able to take a handful myself!
Remote recording is not just vital for talent who don't live in hub cities, but also for disabled and immunocompromised actors as well. To remove it would be to throw SO many actors under the bus, it's absolutely ridiculous.
I have now cemented my anime typecast as Terrible Asshole Kid 🤣
I'm so stoked to say I voiced Yasuhiro in Tribe Nine!!!
Thanks so much to
@MarissaLenti
and
@SoundCadence
for having me!!
The Tribes of Neo-Tokyo are about to face their biggest threat yet! 🗼

Just got my letter from SAG telling me Im at Must-Join status now :') It's been a struggle to even get people to let me do Union work as an international VA, so it kinda sucks knowing I wont be able to keep doing it until I can afford the join fee, which i dont see happening soon
This. While getting everything set up for my hysterectomy, I cannot count how many people have asked "Are you REALLY not going to save your eggs???"
Like? No? I said no? Stop asking??? If I ever decide I DO actually want a child, I will adopt. Adoption is not a lesser choice.
With the newest trailer for the live action Avatar series coming out, I've seen a re-awakening of the old "Sokka's actor isn't actually native" discourse crop up. So I'd like to give my mixed-native perspective on the matter. I hope you'll hear me out and read this thread:
Hey VAs! I'm once again doing some casting for
@onlyamask
! This time I'm looking for female LGBTQ+ talent, so if that's you, I'd love to hear your audition! This is a PAID casting call, deadline Jan. 13th.
Thrilled to announce I once again got to continue my anime tradition of only getting to voice Terrible Boys(tm) with Tamao in Taisho Otome Fairy Tale!!! (I also voiced a couple additional voices here and there :D) Thanks so much to
@StudioNanoCo
for having me!
Seriously, we all need to keep a major eye on Bev Standing's case. If she loses and Tik Tok wins, it would be DEVSTATING for our industry and have terrifying implications for what companies are allowed to do with our voices without our consent and without paying us
months or even years at certain stages of your career. Even when you hit the regularly booking stage, you're still in a career that is 90% putting yourself out there and being rejected, even when it's an indirect rejection.
But, I am muting this thread now because I don't have the bandwidth to keep blocking every other reply that boils down to "B-But, I should be able to say whatever I want and not care how it makes other people feel! 😡"
So apologies if I don't catch anymore genuine questions here
Super stoked to announce you can hear me in Path of the Midnight Sun as Lyvonis!!!
I'm honored to be part of such a stellar cast in such a rad game! 😄 Thanks so much to
@mollozhang
and
@StudioDaimon
for having me on board!
No but for real, casting directors who bring trans VAs in for bit parts/walla and parts that aren't just queer or queer-coded characters???? Literally the best 🙏🙏🙏🙏
N/F/Ts have already had a profoundly negative affect on the online art community with their rampant art theft, great to see someone's found a way to cause VAs grief with them too 🙄 Ill say it loud and clear: N/F/Ts are garbage. If you support them, I want nothing to do with you.
It frustrates me so much that there's an underlying fear in the VA community to speak out about anything. By and large the community is wonderful, but I feel like it's fatal flaw is that people have been made to fear talking about the bad parts, lest they be considered a problem
Hey everyone!!
I'm casting for
@OnlyAMask
and I'm looking to find specific VAs for some very awesome characters!
(1NB/1F)
I'm looking for VAs to voice:
- A black woman, late 20s
- An NB, SWANA/Indian person, early 30s
Link to the casting call is below this post!!
Me, pitching a story about a trans guy and trans girl who are best friends:
"She" was a boy. "He" was a girl. Can I make it anymore obvious?
They are both trans. And they're both gay. What more can I say?
Today is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit people.
Native women and 2S people have a murder rate more than 10x the national average in Canada.
This CANNOT continue to be downplayed and ignored.
Very excited to say that if you play Moonglow Bay, you can hear me as the voice of one of the player characters! 😁
Thanks so much to
@MartinKvale
and the rest of the team for having me on as a little part of this beautiful game!
Let the centennial celebrations begin! 🎉 Moonglow Bay is now OPEN FOR BUSINESS on
@Xbox
and
@Steam
!
Rebuild a fractured community, find over 100+ Aquatic Species, play together in local co-op and uncover the mysteries of the mystical monsters of Moonglow! 🐳
For any of you that just watched TennoLive, I'm so happy to say that you heard me as Veso!! I'm honored to be a part of Warframe, and I hope you guys love playing him as much as I loved voicing him!
Thanks so much to
@Cam_Rogers
and the rest of the team for having me onboard!
I absolutely LOVE VAs who tweet excitedly about their interests outside of VA. I've learned so much about storms and cars and plants and cooking and exercising and so much more! I look forward to seeing those tweets every time I come on here ;w;
Had the absolute pleasure of working with an indie dev today who not only immediately agreed to pay me industry standard rates for my work, but also to add the NAVA AI rider onto the contract AND plans to include AI protections for all future contracts!! Today is a good day 🥹❤️
I'm so conflicted every time I see folks pushing for anime jobs to go full union😕
On the one hand, minimum rates NEED to improve, and the easiest way to do that is to make them union.
On the other hand, union jobs are almost ALL off limits to international talent. Its tough.
I'm absolutely thrilled to say you can hear me as various voices throughout Supa Strikas - Rookie Season!!!
This is the first animated role I can actually talk about now, which is super exciting!!! 😄
It's available now via YouTube Originals!
Please. If you are a non-indigenous person, please raise awareness about situations like this. About the way we're forgotten and left behind. Indigenous people struggle to have our voices heard in ANYTHING, it's why things like this just keep happening. (8/9)
Happy
#TransDayOfVisibility
If you don't know me, hi! I'm Calvin! I'm a voice actor, streamer (when I actually remember lol,) and a proud trans dude.
6 years ago I asked my friends and family to start calling me Cal, as a nickname. And the rest is history 🏳️⚧️
This is what it looks like to be a mixed-race indigenous, transgender voice actor now 💙
I love seeing all these QRTs, y'all are so talented and I'm so proud of you ☺
When I found out I share a role with
@caitlinsvoice
I could NOT contain my excitement!!
Caitlyn was one of my absolute favorite voice actors as a kid first getting into VO, so to now be in a place where I voice a character that she voices the younger half of is a HUGE honor💙
If you remember Martin Mystery, we can be friends!
If you remember Totally Spies, we can be best friends!
If you remember Team Galaxy, i'm literally on one knee proposing to u as we speak
Silva is, I feel confident saying, THE most well-known indigenous character in all of anime. And in 2021, he is being voiced, by a white voice actor.
This was perhaps the ONE opportunity for indigenous VAs to authentically represent ourselves in anime. The ONE. (3/9)
Today's the day!!! You can now hear me in game when you play as my boy Veso in Warframe
#TheNewWar
!!!
It was so much fun getting to work with the folks at Digital Extremes, Veso is one of my favourite characters I've ever voiced and I'm so stoked he's finally out now!! 😄
I don't want to just keep shouting this into the void, unheard.
I want to see all of the incredibly talented indigenous VAs I know be given the same chances as everyone else. Be allowed to represent ourselves like everyone else. (9/9)
Balloooons!
The last year of my life was full of some of the best and toughest moments of my life so far, but I'm really happy to say I'm starting this year in a really good place! I'm genuinely excited to see what 23 has in store for me 💙
YES I CAN FINALLY TALK ABOUT IT!!!
I am SO excited to be providing the voice for Lax!! Solidifying my reputation for voicing tired boys 🤣
Thank you so much to the Hero.EXE team for having me on board! I can't wait for y'all to hear him!! 💙
We're really excited to welcome
@calvin_joyal
as the
#voiceactor
for our lovely boy Lax! We're still in the midst of casting the current characters as well as possibly opening up new ones for auditions. Please keep an eye here and on your emails!

I may be blacklisted for "starting shit", but at this point I don't care. This is something I've watched happen my ENTIRE LIFE, and I CANNOT just keep shutting my mouth and looking away.
Shaman King is the ONLY anime I have EVER seen have indigenous characters. (2/9)
@saltydkdan
Holy shit. I hope this is just a freak accident and they fix it soon. If there's anything we can signal boost for you to help, please let us know
This has been one of the craziest weeks ever for me, and I'm gonna cap it off with one of the most exciting announcements I've ever got to make:
I am now officially repped by Carrier Talent in Canada!!!
Voice acting really is: "guys I swear I'm in really cool things uhhh I just can't tell you what it is right now but it's real"
No but seriously lol, without saying anything else, Im gonna let myself make one bold claim:
Next year??? Yall are gonna see some big things from me ✨
And I get it. Dan Green voiced Silva in the 2001 show and they've been trying to bring back as much of the OG cast as they can.
But it's not 2001 anymore. It is well understood in our industry right now that POC voices deserve to be able to represent POC characters. (4/9)
This is an appreciation post for folks out there who havent got to announce anything recently, who arent in the limelight, but are quietly working away at big, exciting things! I feel you, im dang proud of you and I cant wait till we can finally share our things with the world 💙
And yall, when I tell you I am a Fallout fan, I mean I am a FALLOUT FAN 💙💛💙💛
To know that I'm now a small part of the universe that I've loved since I was a kid, genuinely means EVERYTHING to me ❤
My disappointment in this is massive.
But this is not a new reality to me. This is not unique to Shaman King. It's something I've watched happen my entire life. Indigenous people are treated like we're invisible. Like we don't exist. (5/9)
Gahhh I have a casting call all written up for my project and I'm so excited, but I can't release it yet because I want the script to be done before I bring people on. But! I'm using my excitement to motivate me to finish writing faster and it's actually WORKING?? This is AMAZING
When I bought my first microphone and started practising voice acting, my favourite game in the world was Fallout 4. I remember thinking, "If I can ever be in Fallout game, thatll be it. Thatll mean i made it."
As of today, I can finally say: I made it ❤
Warning to everyone cause a BUNCH of people I know got hacked last night: if someone you know asks you to check out a game and sends you a link over discord, DO NOT CLICK IT. This is a virus that will not only compromise your discord, but potentially your entire device.
So it has been an INSANE few days, and I'm finally caving and admitting I need help.
We were supposed to have a new roomate moving in to the vacant room in our house today. Except that yesterday, she showed up when no one was home and, WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE, went inside
Genuinely frustrated to see one of the few positive portrayals of a trans person in anime cast to a cis actor. I was really excited to see who would get to play Bonde, this role that speaks so loudly to the trans experience, so to see him cast to a cis actor is very disheartening
I'm so used to finding out I'm accidentally crushing on straight guys, so lemme tell you it REALLY hit different when my crush told me "You're the reason I realized I'm gay" 😭💕
I am so beyond infuriated with what's going on with the PGM VO List. The fact that a resource that has been used for so much good could be torn down and destroyed in an instant by one self-centred person REFUSING to let go of their ego makes me so angry.
Like we're this group that existed in fantasy/only in the past who don't exist now so theres no need to actually include us in anything ever. Even in spaces championing diversity I have all too often watched as indigenous people are forgotten, and left out. (6/9)
Voice Acting PSA: Feeling sad or disappointed that you didn't get a role/callback? Totally normal, and okay!
But! Letting that sadness hang over you for extended periods of time? Feeding into a defeatist mindset? Lashing out at those who got what you didn't? Not okay.
I will always have MASSIVE respect for casting directors who get to know me by casting me for a trans/native character, who then bring me back to play additional voices in other things. Treating me like any other actor and not just a person to fill a token spot means the WORLD💙
Ahhhh I'm SO excited to be joining the cast of The Hayseed Knight!!
I started following the development of THK back in 2016, so it's an absolute honor to me to get to be a part of it now 🥺💙
Just realized this already came out! I did some additional voices/walla for The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel -Northern War episode 10!
You can hear me as this scared dude, and various other random folks! Thanks to
@ItsAustinSisk
and
@okratron5000
for having me!! 😄
