In 1995, I published a book with #GlennBurke about his life as a gay man with the @Dodgers and @Athletics . Despite tremendous talent, he was ultimately blackballed from baseball because of his sexual orientation. Tonight, remarkably, he will be honored at Dodger Stadium.

I took this opportune shot of Tom Seaver several years ago just as he happened to point to Gil Hodges in a photo in his office. Seaver talked endlessly about how Hodges deserved to be in the Hall of Fame--even getting emotional about it at one point that day. @baseballhall

The @BlueJays will no longer have radio broadcasters and will use the television feed as a replacement. I assume this is to somehow cut down on costs. When will teams and networks get it? Baseball on the radio is the soundtrack of summer and should be respected that way.

The @Mets hiring of #BuckShowalter was the only viable choice. Hope they leave him alone and let him do his job. I've long believed that Buck, along with #GeneMichael , were the true architects of the last @Yankees dynasty. The @Mets have had a near-perfect off-season.

We're going to look back at the Winter Meetings of '22 as the year when some of the worst contracts of all-time were finalized. Two takeaways: 1.) Owners can never plead poverty again. 2.) Players need to contribute more pension revenue to ALL former players.
