The Baltimore Orioles have essentially turned the AL East upside down. Anyone can proclaim a rebuild. But this thing got built and it actually got built quickly. And looks like it’s built for a long run. The incredible tradition of Baltimore Baseball is alive and well. Cheers!
Interesting story driving to the stadium this morning... on Presidents St the car in front of me got his car squeegeed and then I saw the driver slap high fives and hug a “squeegee kid” from his window. I pulled up next to the driver on Lombard and it was John Harbaugh.
But I have great news. We will have fall. Then we will have winter. Then at some point in February a new year will begin. Pitchers & catchers will report. Wounds will heal. First spring game Feb 24 in Sarasota & the O’s will be back at Camden Yards 3/28 to open up the new season.
WESTBURG WITH A WEAVER:
The O's take a 7-5 lead over the Red Sox thanks to Jordan Westburg's 2nd HR of the year!
Listen to
@BrettHollander
call the go-ahead 3-run HR from Westburg!
Listen to the rest of the game at or in the WBAL mobile app

I won’t stop until Ryan McKenna gets more love from Orioles Twitter. Not everyone can be a role player. It’s really hard to do. And he is quietly putting together a nice offensive season. Since June hitting about 320 with a 380 OBP. He is a big part of this season.
There will be baseball again in Baltimore in no time… The flame is lit. The passion is there. The future is bright. And maybe… just maybe - next year will be the year! Have a great offseason friends. We can’t wait for 2024!
Like this team a lot… but missing some key people in the picture -
@Jim22Palmer
ScottyG
@masnRoch
@masnSteve
and everyone who contributes to O’s broadcasts on or off mic and in front or behind the camera.
A Statement from the Robinson Family and the Orioles:
“We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Brooks Robinson. An integral part of our Orioles Family since 1955, he will continue to leave a lasting impact on our club, our community, and the sport of…
If the Orioles win today - the Rays would have to sweep the Orioles in Baltimore in a 4 game series in September to win the season series. And with the tie breaker format that is incredibly important…
Really tough day for the baseball is dying crowd… 16,000 youth baseball participants at the ballpark today. Incredible energy already. This video doesn’t do it justice.
Former Oriole Arthur Rhodes is here in Houston with an Orioles city connect “B” hat on. Pitched in the big leagues for 20 seasons. And was a key member of one of the best bullpens in team history.
I want full reports and pictures of restaurants, bar scenes, basements, and backyards following the
#Orioles
this weekend in and around town. It’s your weekend to enjoy Baltimore…
The curtain comes down on this amazing
#Orioles
regular season today at Camden Yards. What started at the end of March concludes in October… but there is more baseball to be played here. That’s the good news.
This Jean Moyer - 101 years young and a huge Orioles fan. She is at the ballpark today celebrating her birthday. She offered this great advice “you are never too old to have fun.”
What you don’t realize when the light bulb turns on and you fall in love with your team that there will be a lot more tough days than joyous ones. That’s kinda what fandom is. October can be cruel. That has been the case in pro baseball as long as there has been pro baseball.
Orioles are 23-13 v AL East… they have now taken the season series v NYY and Toronto and lead Rays 6-3 and are 3-3 v Boston. A real shot to sweep the division in head to heads. Pretty amazing considering the division.
I don’t know who wrote it. But it was best said by Jim McKay who narrated the O’s 40th anniversary video… “To a generation who never saw him play… Brooks is an enigma. He has no peer in todays game. No one with whom to compare. Today he remains a symbol of sublime perfection….
As it stands right now - Kyle Bradish qualifies for league leaders and is tied with Gerrit Cole for the ERA lead in the American League currently at 3.03
Stinks losing DL… and Ortiz may have a bright future. But is he ever going to be better than Gunnar and Holiday? The Orioles front office remained patient all offseason biding their time. Burnes, Bradish, Grayson, Means, Kremer with reasonable depth in Wells & Irvin. Wow.
Beautiful memorial done by the
#Orioles
for Brooks. And job well done by Scott Garceau as MC… Incredible representation from Orioles legends and from the baseball world… but I am blown away by how many current Orioles were in attendance. Speaks to the current culture with team.
We’re missing
@orioles
baseball in the Hollander house but staying safe and healthy is most important right now. Here’s a way to keep hand washing fun for the kids (just do it better than I did!)... another PSA - I can’t sing!
As Baltimore tried to get to know their new football team in 1996-98 Goose made that easy. He became the guy fans quickly fell in love with from the moment he arrived in 1997. Larger than life on and off the field. A huge part of Ravens history & the greatest defense of all time
Home playoff games for Baltimore teams are like diamonds… each one is precious. They are a celebration of everything we want to be about. Heading to the same complex where 4 months ago the Orioles hosted postseason baseball. What a time to be here!
This is coming into today… These 3 beloved
#Orioles
teams are so similar it’s scary. If you dig deeper they are almost identical. But the biggest similarity is the surprising nature and underdog spirit of these 3 Orioles teams that will be remembered forever.
The Orioles just completed their 8th best pre all star break in club history and the 2nd best since 1980 … this team hits the break in serious contention for the wild card and division title. Camden Yards should be rocking this weekend with a good Marlins team coming to town.
Baltimore lost a legend today... Simply put Vince Bagli was one of the kindest, nicest, and genuine people I’ve ever met. It was a thrill just to talk with him. And whether you listened to Colts games or watched WBAL-TV no one delivered it with more enthusiasm and love of job.
Mind blowing for us children of the 80’s and 90’s - this will mark a 33rd season at Camden Yards for the Orioles. In 5 seasons the club will equal their time spent at Memorial Stadium.
Arthur Rhodes won 10 games out of the Baltimore bullpen in 1997. Mike Baumann is now a 10 game winner out of the Orioles bullpen. And Arthur Lee Rhodes was in Houston today to watch the O’s - kinda strange?
Former Oriole Arthur Rhodes is here in Houston with an Orioles city connect “B” hat on. Pitched in the big leagues for 20 seasons. And was a key member of one of the best bullpens in team history.
Orioles leaving town rumors are finally dead and the future of the Preakness in Baltimore looks finally secure. Both long overdue gigantic victories for the town and the community as a whole. Perhaps necessities.
Last broadcast for me in 2021 as the curtains comes down on the
#Orioles
season this weekend. Always a thrill, always an honor, and always a blast… thank you to Orioles fans, crew, colleagues, and ballpark friends…

Baltimoreans… Marylanders… I think we have just entered the “good old days.”
Times like these I remember an old saying from our youth… Why be less… when you can B-More?
Congratulations to Bruce Zimmermann who is the 28th Marylander ever to play for the modern Orioles. And today he lived out a dream that so many of us had - winning a game for our hometown team. Bruce made us all proud today!

My high of the night was the phone conversation I had with my 12 year old nephew after the game… he was there tonight and it sounded like he will never forget it. Baltimore Baseball is alive and well..
I would have to really go back and look at it. But just quickly thinking about it - that’s probably one of the top regular season wins of the Harbaugh era. Given how big of dogs the
#Ravens
were, caliber of opponent, stakes, and how late it is in the season.
This shirt has lasted in the Hollander family for 40 years… and for some reason the sleeves are now missing ! Go O’s! And happy anniversary to that special group from 1983!
He has been on the mic for and has covered some of the biggest moments in Baltimore sports. But above all he is epitome of class. Scott Garceau so deserving to now be in the Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame.
To a Hall of Famer in every sense of the word. Proud to call you a colleague, broadcast partner and most importantly a friend. Congrats Scotty G on your induction into the Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame!

What an incredible story to start the season… by my quick research - Bruce will be the first Maryland native to start the home opener since Tommy Phoebus did it on April 10 1968. The Mt St Joe grad defeated Catfish Hunter 3-1 on 33rd St. Bruce will do it at 333 W. Camden St.
That was a great win for the
#Orioles
. Not good. Great. Felt like they pieced it together with duct tape. But they did it… And a great series win. They have won 6 of 8.
They say you don’t want to meet your hero’s because you will only be disappointed. Whomever said that clearly wasn’t referring to Brooks Robinson. Stay tuned on MASN after
#Orioles
Baseball tonight.
In sports, there are heroes who set records and those who create fanbases. Brooks Robinson did both.
Stay tuned following O's Xtra postgame for a special production honoring the Orioles Legacy of Mr. Oriole.
Oriole Park at Camden Yards is a busy place 8 days out… I can almost hear the 1992 O’s song “Welcome Home.”
“We’re getting ready… waiting for you! Welcome home. Come on in. We are here to say hello.”
Who remembers ?
I find this so odd… my entire life I knew there were only 2 Orioles ever to hit for the cycle (Brooks and Cal)… 2! From 1954 to June of 2007… now there are 7. Brandon Hyde alone has been the manager of 3 of them.
So sad to learn about the loss of “Detour” Dave Sandler. Someone I truly enjoyed talking to everyday. I would say 75% of our conversations were about Baltimore sports. And there was nothing trivial about it. It was a passion. He was a good man.
RIP to the great Hank Aaron... I have a few mementos I truly cherish... my Mom wrote him a letter during his home run chase of Ruth and she received this letter back.
One of the all time great stories that sums up Brooks… when player rep Doug Decinces had to speak on behalf of the team and all he did was run out to 3B pull the bag out of the ground and hand it to Brooks. Never had to say a word…
@BrettHollander
@Jim22Palmer
great seeing you guys on the game yesterday! My son was beside himself when he realized a sportscaster could get paid to hang out with a hall of fame legend. I’ll work on helping him remember Brett’s name for next game 😀
The Delmon Young double will stand as one of the great calls in O’s history. But even during the bad times (which there were many)
@WaveItByeBye
made the games interesting and entertaining- and I will miss “Orioles in the winnnnn column!” It just sounded like good times.
Dem Os! 8-2 v Blue Jays this year… 24-14 v AL East. Orioles get 15 hits today… only 2 Xtra base hits (both doubles) and they didn’t come until the top of the 9th. O’s batters walked 3 times today - all 3 by Ramon Urias. Oh and Ryan Mountcaslte (enough said!)
