Trump retweeted a Glenn Beck tweet of Candace Owens tearing into Floyd’s personal character for 2 1/2 minutes. Finishing by her saying that he is representative of blacks. All 3 of them are vile, racist, tone deaf, and incredibly foolish.
Being pro-life shouldn’t mean you can put outlawing abortion on one side of the scale and then just pile up every sort of vice, personal cruelty, and wickedness on the other side and somehow your conscience is fine.
Hesitate to post this, but do we realize who we are becoming? This is absurd. It’s one thing to say a young man who made foolish decisions should be declared legally innocent. Another to turn him into a traveling folk hero. Not to mention what this will do to him, personally.
Steve Bannon arrested on a boat by Postal Service employees for frauding donors out of money from his Build the Wall GoFundMe campaign...sounds like it's straight out of Arrested Development.
I’m both pro-life & absolutely Never Trump, and those things go together just fine.
It was never OK to compromise to get a president to nominate the justices who would vote this way.
And yet the decision is good.
We need to step up to serve women & families all the more.
Once thought of myself as a Rubio-Sasse-Haley-Scott Republican, but you pushed me away by flushing your credibility down the drain. Indictments of Trump's character meant nothing when faced with a real power crisis. Until another era emerges, I'll be supporting Joe Biden.
What would it look like for us to follow in the steps of

? A few thoughts. (Feel free to add your own.)
1. Live lives of fervent prayer.
2. Be faithful to our spouses. Cultivate deep mutual friendship and collaboration.
3. Take steps of bold faith-filled risk,…
Sasse says Alexander's statement "speaks for lots and lots of us." Alexander's statement says what Trump did was "inappropriate." If that's the case, I want the GOP Senators to draft up a statement why and how it was inappropriate.
@JonathanMerritt
Are you personally concerned that Samaritan's Purse doctors will not treat LGBT people with equal attention and care? I'm not a fan of Graham at all, but this is much bigger than his agenda. They are a professional global relief org w/ expertise & budget of half a billion $.
Leave the corners of your field unharvested. Leave space for “gleaning”: Margin for helping others flourish. Have room in your schedule to chat in the hallway at work. Introduce friends to each other. Pass on opportunities to new talent. Mentor. Build serendipity into your week.
Personal news: Tomorrow I start a new full-time role as Managing Director of Media at
@TGC
(The Gospel Coalition). I’ll be working with the creative team on books, video, conferences, social media and other projects.
It was a Tower of Babel day. A day where mankind couldn’t understand one another and couldn’t solve its own problems just by talking about it. Today uniquely revealed our need for outside intervention in the human condition.
@CillizzaCNN
I would love to ask
@BenSasse
why he voted to not allow further witnesses in the impeachment trial. And why he voted to acquit. I'm still very frustrated about all that. But I do like where he's headed and if he can hold this line consistently, I'm with him.
Even aside from the Trump supporter shouting “White Power” at the beginning, why would the president post videos of neighbors turned against one another. The response should not be “thank you!”

It's fair to point out that the Israel story is buried in a single tiny sentence about 40 stories down on the NY Times home page. In these 4 screenshots (going down the page section by section) it does not appear. I did a search of the page and barely found it, down below these.
It might mean taking the longer view and realizing you can choose what kinds of ambassadors are an acceptable face for your cause, recognizing that any win in court that’s powered by a morally bankrupt leader will be discrediting to the movement and a Pyrrhic victory.
It's a small turn of phrase, but Biden today spoke the mob being a threat to "the voices of nearly 160 million Americans" whereas Trump & his folks keep talking about "75 million Americans." Biden sees the riots as an attack on every American who voted, not just his own voters.
Thankful for a pastor and assistant pastor who got up on Sunday in church and denounced Christian nationalism and election conspiracy theories, full stop.
I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!
I’m sick as of today and likely have COVID (found out about an hour ago that 2 of our kids tested positive w/o symptoms). So it’s particularly galling to see the president give a long speech about his stolen election, paired with all the lack of leadership on the virus.
Was it inappropriate in the same way that calling Cruz's wife ugly was inappropriate? Was it more inappropriate or less inappropriate than the Access Hollywood tape? More or less than "very fine people on both sides"? More or less than paying off a porn star to win the election?
Explaining to my son how print newspapers work and he thinks it’s hilarious: “People drive around neighborhoods at 5 in the morning and throw rolled up papers in yards. And that’s how you find out what happened yesterday.”
Just saw a new social video from a Trump supporter friend (and very nice person) who says “Consider holding out hope that 0%, none of it, zero, of what you are hearing in the media is true. If something sounds off, it probably is.” This is not discernment. This is brain-washing.
In 2000, in a little Sunday school class in our church, we read and discussed 5-6 of

John Piper has been the same consistent voice for so long. Whether I agree with him or not on certain things, I would want to be the kind of person who writes something like he did and the reaction is "Of course this is what he believes. That's the man I know him to be."
@ostrachan
I remember that at one time you were pretty clear-headed about all this. In fact, the media voice you had available, you used vocally. You were yourself a faith leader who used your voice to stop Trump from being elected. Was it “collusion” then, or was it a conscience?
Trump secretly paid Stormy Daniels $130,000 in hush money in 2016.
To keep evangelical voters and his wife in the dark.
Then expensed it and paid $750 in income tax that year.
Then lied about it.
It’s enough to draw out a little righteous indignation.
But we’re past that.
I have a hard time understanding why people want to downplay virus numbers. I shared a stat on Facebook and several folks jump in to qualify and minimize it. What’s the incentive? If my car’s gas tank says empty, does it help to claim I have a quarter tank left?
The whole thing is kinda angering, honestly. I didn't change a bit. Still pro-life, still like balanced budgets, still support issues of religious conscience, still oppose activist judges. But *you* shape-shifted into sycophants for a very bad man. Clammed up when it mattered.
Excited for the launch of The Keller Center for Cultural Apologetics at
@TGC
. A project in the works for a long time. “Close the back door. Open the front door. Send out the equipped.”
I'm supportive of Barrett's competence and faith, but dissonance of GOP senators now appealing to Christian virtue after these last 4-5 years is pretty amazing.
Chinese house church pastor Wang Yi has been sentenced to 9 years in prison for preaching. Having watched a number of his sermons, he’s a brilliant and brave man. He deeply understands the contrast between Chinese communism and true Christian faith. Here is his response:
Re: SCOTUS decision — Do people realize how invasive and upside down it would be if individual designers, composers, illustrators, freelance writers, and web developers were compelled by law to work on projects they fundamentally disagreed with?
This kind of statement from the former President is unconscionable. He pitted us against one another for years, all for self-advancement.
May he never get even close to power again. May he be diminished and forgotten as soon as possible.
In the past year, I’ve gone from a resting heart rate of 91 beats per minute (not good at all), down to 65 beats per minute.
Healthier now than I have been in about 8 years or so.

What if the question was the seemingly more benign “Was the election stolen from Trump?”
I bet much, much, much higher number.
People might not know they are believing the lies of Q, but they still absorb the essence of the claims.
Last night we lost our long-time companion, Lindy. I took her to ER late last night and found that she had liver failure. There was nothing we could do. She would have been 15 next month. 2007-2022.
Seriously, I bet everyday Americans would be honored to host these folks for dinner and put them up in their guest rooms and extra bedrooms. I would be more than glad to.
Raise your hand if you want this plane landing in your town?
America paid unimaginable costs in Afghanistan because of uniparty globalists who dominated the Bush & Obama administrations.
No more…
If you ever want to hear what classic, centered, heart + head Christian teaching sounds like, there are over 600 sermons from the late John Stott on the All Souls Langham Place website. From the 1950s to the early 2000s.
After seeing Tim Scott hold his own on The View today, I can see him doing *very* well on the debate stage and maybe even pulling to the front of the pack. Unlike Trump and DeSantis, he’s normal and empathetic, endearing and engaging. Not a weirdo.
I wrote NRB a short note in support of

Friend, husband, and father of three daughters passed away of COVID yesterday. From normal life to now gone in about 2 weeks time. Not even 40 years old. I grieve with hope with his family.
Those who make a big deal about Columbia U protests should make a big deal about January 6. And those who make a big deal about January 6 should make a big deal about Columbia U. (Ducks for cover)

Sleep deprivation in the early weeks will make you feel crazy, and possibly even angry, and imposed upon. But this is not how it is forever. You get into a new rhythm and eventually the baby sleeps longer too. Also: when you can sleep, sleep. Take melatonin if it helps.
@DavidJollyFL
Personal opinion: Democrats are going to have to essentially overlook this fact if they want to successfully remove Trump. If GOP gets 1 year of Pence, that is plausible. Making Pelosi President is a non-starter.
Visited Senator Sasse’s office today and thought it was great that among other photos of freedom around the world there’s a photo of Officer Eugene Goodman on the wall.
I remember watching this live on TV. It was revolting at a different level than anything I'd seen before in politics. Violently dispersing a crowd to hold a Bible before a camera.
I know this sounds crazy but I feel more hope for the country than I have in a while. The fever really did start to break today. At least among those who know better.
In light of CT’s pieces and
@michaelluo
’s piece in

, I was thinking this model that we talk about in Gotham Fellowship is what American evangelicalism needs more of—a theology of exile rather than expectation of dominance and triumphalism (“Jerusalem”).
The most difficult task Biden has will be to measure his words, stay at the table with those who hate him, and work for shared understanding and reasonable compromises with those that try to destroy him.
