Good Lord. This is just eerie for mid December in Iowa.
Please prepare for foul weather after 4pm- frankly I wouldn't be going out later today if I didn't have to. These storms will be intense.
How does one become one of those people in their 20s who literally travel everywhere and see the whole world and seemingly have an endless budget?
Asking for a friend
My forever travel partner. I said “yes” as we looked over Barcelona, Spain from gorgeous Parc Güell.
Mi amor, I’m excited to begin this next chapter of life with you.
What does a blizzard actually look like?
It looks like this.
Strong winds. Blowing snow. High snow drifts.
And typically, frigid cold.
This is the current view in Gilbert, Iowa.

YIKES! Just captured this photo from an

camera of the big crash along I-80 near Newton.
Ya'll this is bad. Please stay off the roads. This is no joke- full on blizzard conditions in eastern Iowa.
It’s 3:50am on the west coast and there are 2 active tornado warnings in California, just east of Stockton & Modesto. There’s a severe-warned storm over Sacramento.
More flooding rain is expected over the next few days in California.

Recently I stepped away from my role as a TV meteorologist. I knew it was time for something new, but I still wanted to use my skills as a communicator to directly serve Iowans.
I’m so excited to announce I’ve joined
@ridedart
as a Communications Specialist!

: Air quality is considered 'VERY UNHEALTHY' in central Iowa and eastern Iowa as of 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Smoke has drifted much closer to the ground, making it difficult to breathe even for healthy folks. This is reducing visibility and leaving an odor outside.

@AaronMorrison89
I'm so happy to read this, Aaron. I'm proud of you and glad you're finally feeling comfortable to share this.
Anyone who walks away from a friendship over this is no true friend. Always here if you need to chat!
When I walked across the stage to formally earn a meteorology degree 9 years ago, I never envisioned someday I’d write a post like this. In a few weeks, I’ll deliver my final forecast at Local 5. I’m stepping away from the TV industry to pursue a new, but exciting, adventure.
A tornado outbreak is underway in the northeast this evening- multiple confirmed large tornadoes touching down. Significant damage has been reported outside of Philadelphia, PA. This is the leftovers from

This has been tweeted a few times, but it's worth repeating.
Please do not let me hear the phrase "it hit without warning" in any national coverage tomorrow, or I might lose my mind
Terrifying situation ongoing in Dayton, Ohio. A tornado emergency is in place. This is a very violent storm- even more dangerous that it’s happening at this time of night.
Weight has always been my biggest struggle in life. Battling my weight is harder for me than anything else out there.
Food has always been my stress relief. It’s my go-to. Clearly that’s not healthy, and I’ve had quite a journey trying to overcome that!
Y’all stop attacking
@Ginger_Zee
about the coverage of derecho aftermath in Iowa. I understand we’re hurting as a community and as a state. What we have experienced is awful.
But you try covering the natural disasters and weather events for the entire country each day.
In case you missed our announcement on yesterday's morning show, I'm so thrilled to share I am moving to a permanent role on weekday mornings here at Local 5.
I'll be taking over as the meteorologist for Good Morning Iowa, so you can now catch my forecast from 5-7am Mon-Fri.
OFFICIALLY DONE! 🎓
Today I virtually graduated from the University of Alabama with a Master’s in Communication Studies and Organizational Leadership!
Now it’s time to relax. (After the snow, that is 😆)
If you look at everything that happened in the Midwest yesterday and still don’t believe human-induced climate change is having an adverse effect on our weather patterns… I don’t know what it will take to get the message across
Of course my first reason for being at the parade was to see the

in action! It’s been so long since I’ve been able to cheer on the Bulldogs in person!
Tomorrow is game day! Beat TTU!

When I went to go create this side-by-side, I had a really hard time finding a “full body” photo of myself. For years, I hated taking photos like this because I was so embarrassed by my looks. I would constantly have the person taking the photo “cut out my stomach” or
It's bittersweet, but I've got one more day left on TV at Local 5. I started in June 2017, almost 7 years ago.
Tomorrow will feel weird, but I'm so relieved it'll be the last time I wake up at 1:30am. I look forward to giving you the morning forecast one final time on Friday.
SHOUT OUT to Fort Dodge!! How cool is this?
I am in Memphis ahead of the Liberty Bowl game, and the city held a parade today on Beale Street as part of the festivities. 🎵🎶
To my total surprise, the Fort Dodge Senior HS Band was performing- all the way in TN!
@weareiowa5news
Today I interrupted TV for 30 minutes to cover a tornado warning and didn't receive a single "get off the TV" or "blah blah blah" message or e-mail for probably the first time in my career.
Either that means no one watched, or maybe a few folks got the memo?
It’s been 4 years since I started my journey at
@weareiowa5news
. FOUR is hard to believe.
Moving to Iowa was a huge leap of faith for me. Didn’t know anyone. No clue what to expect.
Fast forward, and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made.
I’m proud to call Iowa home ❤️
SIX YEARS ago today I started as the weekend meteorologist here at
@weareiowa5news
. To be honest, I never expected to be in central Iowa this long.
I couldn’t be more grateful for the experiences I’ve had and relationships I’ve built here.
Favorite message from an angry viewer during tornado coverage: “Could you PLEASE reschedule your tornado warnings for another time when our shows are not on?”
Me: “Sure let me get right on that. Would we be able to pencil in Thursday at 10am?”
🙄🙄
3 YEARS 🥳
I missed the date last week, but I’m officially marking three years as a meteorologist here in Des Moines!
I’ve grown a lot as a meteorologist and have learned a lot over these few years. I still have plenty to learn. Here’s to more crazy Iowa forecasts! 😉
This is what blizzard/blowing snow conditions look like.
It’s not about snow amounts, but rather the wind, poor visibility, and dangerous travel.
Travel is HIGHLY discouraged tonight. Please wait til morning if you must go out. This video is from Humboldt.

2020 has brought more negatives than I care to rehash here. For me, if there's any silver lining from this year, it's this ⤵️
For several years, I let my weight spiral out of control. And every January, I'd make the same resolution to "get it fixed". Never did. Until 2020. 💪🏽
My boyfriend and I are enjoying some rest and relaxation in Colorado over the next few days.
Today we spent the day in Denver- dry at first and now pretty snowy! ❄️ tomorrow we’ll trek up to Estes Park and the Rocky Mountains! 🏔
How strong is the wind tonight? It’s taking down shopping center signs 🤯
Our promotions department captured this photo near the intersection of University Ave and 42nd St in West Des Moines. Thank goodness it didn’t hit someone’s car!

It’s been a long journey to get this— countless hours of studying, a major exam, & a weathercast critique. I am excited to announce I’ve been awarded the Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from

I’m so thrilled to receive this honor!

Soooo I’m quickly losing confidence that central Iowa will see much (if any) rain today 😫 it’s all pushing south and west.
To make up for it, I did a rain dance.
Don’t say I’ve never done anything for you. 🤣☔️
I’m so proud to be a part of the
@Local5Weather
team!
We won a regional Emmy award for our severe weather special, “Iowa’s Forces of Nature”. This was a labor of love for the team. This is my first Emmy award!

I’ll tell you what, I’ve gotta give props to the excellent meteorologists at
@NWSDesMoines
. Heck of a job today.
They don’t get enough recognition and I’m so thankful to have them as weather partners every day.
It amazes me that people think meteorologists forecast bad weather to scare people and to partner with local stores for a $$ cut of all their extra sales of food, water, etc.
WE 👏 DO 👏 NOT 👏 GET 👏 EXTRA 👏 MONEY 👏 FROM 👏 ANY 👏 STORES

Check this out! I haven’t ever seen a dust devil like this in central Iowa. It’s very impressive 👀

I’m not usually a fan of 2/14, but I’m feeling a shout-out today.
Happy Valentine’s Day to my incredible boyfriend Andy. You’re beyond understanding and caring, and you inspire me so much every single day.
Now let’s get Covid over with so we can do fun things again ❤️
Very concerning look on radar as we have a debris ball coming into the south side of West Des Moines.
If you are in West Des Moines, you should be in a sheltered location now!
