When it rains it pours. I've been told at least three and perhaps four A&M players have been suspended indefinitely by Aggie head coach Jimbo Fisher, all from the true freshman ranks.
BREAKING: Per multiple sources, Texas A&M set to part ways with Jimbo Fisher as early as today.
Decision was reached at the recommendation of the Athletic Dept/University president during last Thursday's Board of Regents meeting.
After a wild 24 hours, Texas A&M set to hire Mike Elko as next head coach. Decision on A&M's side was made late last night, with conversations with Elko taking place throughout Sunday.
Texas and OU lobbying behind the scenes tirelessly to join the SEC while simultaneously selling recruits that the Big 12 is in no way inferior is 100% on brand.
Four true freshmen facing disciplinary action for curfew violation prior to tonight's kickoff with Miami, including a pair of five-star wideouts and two cornerbacks.
Perfect way to cap off a ridiculous week in College Station.
BREAKING: Just got word that A&M d-line coach Elijah Robinson is headed to Syracuse as the new Orange defensive coordinator. E-Rob's first crack at running the defense so a big step for tge longtime Aggie assistant.
π£π£π£ BREAKING: A&M coaching staff with a head-turning hire, as WR coach
@HolmonWiggins
makes the move from Tuscaloosa to Aggieland.
Wiggins had been working under Nick Saban since the 2019 season. Big-time hire for the Maroon & White. π£π£π£
The accusations are bad enough, but super ballsy of Nick Saban to walk around repeatedly saying his program has never bought a player. Dude acts as if he doesn't have folks who have worked for him at LSU and Bama scattered all over college football.
Zero answers. The A&M offense under Jimbo Fisher has officially bottomed out, which has to leave him no choice but to hand over the operation. This goes way beyond execution or youth.
Hell of a job by Shane Beamer in year two at South Carolina but what's happened to the Ags in year five under Jimbo is the story. Pre-season
#6
and now 3-4 and 1-3 in the SEC plus the program's first loss to the Gamecocks? Disappointing doesn't even begin to describe this.
Enjoying watching A&M hand it to Texas in Omaha because of the rivalry and all of the twitter back and forth but mainly because the Ags finally broke through at the CWS and are moving on. And did so against a tough team and great program.
For as much hell as I catch from Longhorns on this app, I can't pass up the chance to say...
Congrats on a hell of a season. Team showed incredible fight tonight.
Aggies pick up an absolute monster in Evan Stewart, the No 1 receiver in the country. A five-star and one of America's top five overall recruits. Doesn't get any bigger.
Hard to listen to Herbie and Fowler drone on about ND being in. Herbstreit's refusal to give A&M any shot is pitiful. Even if Irish make it, his degree of confidence and steady shitting on the Ags' chances despite a month of sitting at 5 displays an alarming lack of awareness.
This is how Texas A&M won games ALL season. They just grind you out. That's 8 straight Ws to end the year and seven in a row by double digits. Pretty damn impressive stuff and probably good for a No 4 final ranking.
A&M needs to show the committee they were wrong instead of being No 5 team that pouts and gets beat. Win and finish with the highest final ranking since the '39 champs.
Now imagine if
@TrayveonW
had decided to sit out the bowl game and declare early for the NFL Draft. Lifetime memory for one of the best dudes I've covered at A&M. Congrats 5 πͺπΌ
Jimbo and the Aggie offense adding the nation's No. 1 back the day after losing Devon Achane to the NFL is pretty damn impressive. Ags needed a third tailback in the worst way and landed the best.
Heart is breaking for Terry Price and his family today. One of the best human beings I've had the pleasure of knowing and truly an 'All-Time Aggie." Keep Kenya, Devin, Alex and the entire A&M football family on your prayers.
Aggies haven't hired a head coach with a defensive background since RC Slocum. Thing I love about the Elko hire is that he's a lifelong DC who understands and embraces modern college offense, as well. A must in this league.
Like the rest of the college football world, keeping Mike Leach and his family in my thoughts and prayers. Also thinking of the entire State community ππΌ
Media ripped
@TheKellenMond
for a week after a rough one against LSU. Does
@justnfields
get the same treatment? Mond has thrown 3 INTs in nine games. Fields has thrown 5 in Ohio St's only two games vs teams with a winning record.
That's FOUR trips into the State red zone and, somehow, Fisher's offense has managed to be OUTSCORED 7-3 on those chances. I've never even heard of that.
Aggies are going to be heading to the Orange Bowl for the first time since World War II, which is pretty damn incredible and something anyone in Maroon & White would have signed up for. Go finish No 3 for your best final ranking in school history.
...and the 'down' SEC is about to go 7-2 in bowls, including a natty and two New Year's Six wins. So much wasted effort from the Big Goon Kickoff and Fox Sports folks.
Getting all kinds of texts from Texas HS and college coaches this morning and they are raving about
@CoachMikeElko
tabbing Collin Klein as Texas A&M's next OC. This one is going to be very popular with recruits, as well.
Jimbo and the Aggies pick up a MONSTER commit, landing five-star
@thegoatanthony1
. The nation's No. 1 LB gets the ball rolling on a big weekend in College Station π£π£π£
Most complete game Texas A&M has played this year and the Aggies are going to close things out with four straight Ws and what should be s Top-15 final ranking. Gig 'em ππΌ
Texas A&M set to begin roughly $200 million in facilities upgrades/renovations and the plans/renderings are mind-blowing. Already $170 million in funding secured π€―
Two years in a row A&M has played both national title game participants. And before you drop the βand they went 0-4,β those four teams entered the championship game a combined 52-0.
Texas A&M: 8 of 9, 23 overall, 12-9 in SEC games and now playing for a conference tourney title. Wins over ND, UF (2), Arkansas (2), Bama and Auburn. Please show me a better resume from Wyoming, SMU, Dayton, Wake or OU.
If Bama at A&M is indeed the CBS primetime game Oct 9, there will be a few especially ambitious college football fans who take in OU/Texas at the Cotton Bowl and make it to Kyle Field in time for the Tide and Ags. Sounds like a hell of a Saturday.
Absolutely mind-blowing to think that Texas A&M's class already ranks No. 1 and Jimbo Fisher and the Ags have a very real shot at four of the country's seven unsigned five stars.
Georgia wins best SEC road trip to date, hands down. Atmosphere, in-game presentation, crowd noise, Athens food and nightlife all next-level.
@UGAAthletics
and
@UGAcheerleading
plus a great football team made for an incredible Gameday environment! Oh, and Uga, of course πΆ
BREAKING: Texas A&M's
@CoachMikeElko
to tab former Aggie DB and Kansas Co-DC Jordan Peterson as safeties coach. Peterson was the Big 12's No. 1-ranked recruiter this cycle and helped KU produce two All-Conference DBs last fall.
Darrell Dickey leaving Jimbo Fisher's A&M, which creates the OC opening we've been expecting. Fisher wasting little time. As for Dickey, he'll quickly land on his feet if he wants to. Great resume, great guy.
What a crock of shit. Pretty disgraceful effort by the selection committee to leave A&M out of the field. Some of the resumes very clearly do not measure up.
BREAKING: Texas A&M safety
@therealdemani
tells
@TexAgs
he'll be returning for his senior season. Big decision for
#26
and tremendous news for the 2022 Aggie defense.
The Aggies have now knocked off Florida, LSU and Auburn in the same season. Two very important wins last two Saturdays as Fisher's program continues to climb the SEC ladder.
This A&M class is an absolute monster and momentum continues to build. Making a real run at Bama and UGA for the No 1 overall spot. Jimbo and the Ags are now recruiting at a national title level.
OU/Texas paying a combined $150 million or so to bail on the 'One true champion' Big 12 and jump into the 'overrated, top-heavy' SEC shows just how forward-thinking A&M's decision-makers were a decade ago.
On the A&M side,
@CoachMikeElko
and the Ags made E-Rob an incredible offer (highest-paid position coach in CFB) and I've been told Elko had his contingency plan ready - an ace recruiter/relationship-builder and highly-regarded DL coach - in the event Robinson left. Stay tuned.
And before Aggies race to the cliffs, take a minute to wish
@ConnerWeigman
well. This is about him first and foremost and the young man is likely devastated he won't be able to finish this season with his teammates.
