Can't get it out of my head that Europe cried about a 'migrant crisis' in 2015 against 1.4m refugees fleeing war in Syria and yet quickly absorbed some 2m Ukrainians within days, complete with flags and piano music.
Europe never had a migrant crisis. It has a racism crisis.
This is the end of the road for Tinubu dynasty.
Anyone in Lagos who ever votes again for a Tinubu candidate will never know peace or prosperity in their lives.
Obi ran on a Christian-Muslim ticket.
Tinubu ran on a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Obi ran a campaign for Nigerian youths.
Tinubu ran a campaign for Yoruba people.
Obi said go and verify his merit.
Tinubu said it was his own turn.
Obi never baited any ethnicity.
Tinubu baited Igbos.
Obi’s candidacy came with so much division & hate…tribal division, religious division even family and friends have been divided all for this cause.
Isn’t this enough for these so-called “Prophets of Baal” to understand that God was never having it with this dude?
What she said.
I have spent a decade plus studying anti-gay laws in Africa and I can tell you the Ghana version is even CRAZIER than all the others.
I mean, over-the-top, paranoia induced, way out of line, extremely batshit crazy.
Let me do a list of the top hits.
Anti-LGBTQ Bill: Samia Nkrumah - daughter of Kwame Nkrumah, first President of Ghana - is urging President Akufo-Addo
@nakufoaddo
not to assent to the "brutal, harsh, unjust law."
In an interview with
@Graphicgh
, she said "we don't need it" as we need to protect eachother.
I don't begrudge Ukrainians their welcome and I am quite happy for those who have found relief.
But Europeans have to learn how to extend a humane response to everyone and not just people who look like them.
I think Nigerians, regardless of their political leanings, should sit down for a second and just appreciate the fact that Peter Obi is drawing huge crowds who all know he doesn’t have bags of cash waiting to distribute to them later. Think of what that means and let it sink in.
Tinubu’s thugs in another location at Fadeyi, Lagos interfering with the election process. For those who want this king of thugs to be president of Nigeria, your entire generation will never amount to anything beyond thuggery.
Easier for the Nigerian police to spot a young man with a laptop bag inside a crowded bus than to spot a truckload of 300 students abducted by terrorists.
My thoughts really go to Uju Anya because it is going to be some trying days ahead. The Western world only allows rejoicing at the deaths of leaders from Africa, the Middle East, China, and Eastern Europe. The death of any Western leader is a sacrosanct and sober affair.
In 1993, I was 9 years old when I participated in my first protest, riding on my father's shoulders as we chanted against the annulment of the June 12 elections. It ended with us running from teargas in Oshodi.
This is 2021, and I have not betrayed that memory.
#June12thProtest
APC is not a political party. It’s a criminal organisation that has used violence, bribery, and intimidation to capture Nigeria. Everyone who supports their crimes should be ashamed.
There is absolutely nobody supporting Tinubu from a purely policy perspective.
It's either they are in APC or are connected to people who are in APC; they owe Tinubu or are hoping for a future appointment/contract; or they are ethnic bigots who just will vote for any Yoruba.
This agent of wanton obfuscation and fraudulent sophistry is at it again.
Tinubu’s campaign is blatantly ethnocentric with Yoruba sloganning and campaignig to Yorubas to vote Yoruba while Obi barely brings up ethnicity. Clearly, just being Igbo is the issue. Shame on you, Sega.
You mean your supporters shouldn’t gather and wait to see you outside the gates of your mansion from morning till night until you are ready to come out? What kind of behaviour are you trying to promote in our politics?
Tomorrow, the 3rd of November, I'll be interfacing with the global community of OBIdients Support Groups on Zoom. I need to and I am ready to listen and hear from you directly.
If Buhari thinks he is going to enjoy a quiet and nonchalant 2021 - 2023 without any protest, he is sorely mistaken. The child that doesn't allow the mother sleep at night will not be having any sleep either.

Explain to me like I’m an atheist: Why is it wrong for one presidential aspirant to seek the Christian votes while it is right for another aspirant to seek the Muslim votes - including even running on a joint Muslim ticket?
Let me declare interest in just this one.
I am a human right lawyer of 12 years. I have an LLM and a pending LLD in human rights. I teach human rights in SA. I have facilitated workshops for officials of SA, Malawi, Ghana, and Kenya NHRIs. And I like delivering justice. Thanks.
You call Lagos a megacity but think megacities are run by just one ethnicity. Travel the world and go and see how megacities are "owned" by people from all over the world. You haven't even see Kenyans or Zimbabweans in Lagos govt and you're already complaining. You're very silly.
Not me. But my sister who was accused in primary school of being a witch by a classmate. The teachers also, foolishly, told her to bring our parents to discuss this.
My father told her to go and tell the teachers that she has used her witch powers to eat everyone in the family.
We Yoruba people are now basically led by smugglers, drug lords, low-level politicians, and patronage entertainers.
Gone are the intellectual and industrial giants, the scientific innovators, and the ideological politicians who crafted critical essays to articulate their vision.
The Nigerian police are not brutal simply because they are poorly paid or untrained. No, they are brutal because they understand that they serve the political elite and not the people.
Pay them more money and they will simply be a highly-paid and brutal police force.

This Dangote bants shows that many Nigerians still think their poverty is individualistic rather than systemic.
No. You will never become Dangote because Dangote's existence is tied to why you are poor. He and other Aso Rock oligarchs do not grow our market, they feed on it.
The people who vote for Tinubu are thieves, people who hope to be thieves, or people who are receiving stolen money from thieves. There is no credible reason to wish this type of candidate on Nigeria except if you have bad intentions.
I love this one because God help you if your exam instructions said “Expatiate” and instead you merely “enumerated”. Correctly interpreting the exam instructions was the first test of your abilities.
ChatGPT vocabulary is nothing next to the verbosity of Nigerian teachers.
Let's be fair. Not every influencer supporting Tinubu has been paid to do so.
Some of them are doing it freely, voluntarily, and with the knowledge that it is easier for them to get into a Tinubu govt as contractors and appointees than into the govt of a merit-based politician.
Dear
@Jack
, in case you need someone to tell you this, you are doing well so far with Twitter's policies. Stay the course and don't let the men who control the guns intimidate you.
Sanwoolu is in his second term. He has nothing to lose.
Come 2027, APC will present a new candidate and tell you this one will do better than Sanwoolu. They will even join us to criticise Sanwoolu and say he was out of line.
Then Lagosians will turn mumu and vote for APC again.
Buhari, Osinbajo, and the entire FG messed this up woefully. For a brief moment last week, they had Nigerians really listening to them. All we asked for was visible action and they fumbled it. Now they are back to using outdated tactics and brute force. They failed us.
#EndSARS
Tomorrow morning we take the protest to the Nigerian High Commission here. If the govt thinks it can ban protesters at home, then we will take up the baton and protest across the world.
#EndSARS
The fact that Tinubu and Atiku are now the major party candidates vying to replace Buhari whom they both financed into power in 2015 is how you know that APC and PDP are just branches of the same investment bank.
We can continue this oppressive cycle or we can break the curse.
Journalists investigated and broke the news story. Nigerians expressed collective outrage and made the news viral. Falz wrote a letter and exerted his influence. When things work, share credit all round so everyone can do more of the same.
Buhari grew nothing, wasted everything, and watched his cronies steal plenty. If you vote APC in 2023 and they win, every suffering you've experienced since 2015 is about to double down in your life - because Tinubu is not going to have mercy on that treasury.
I generally don't interfere in content like this but this one points to our staggering social hypocrisy.
One woman is blessed with gifts for days and even newspapers celebrate her good luck. Another gets one nice day out and suddenly this may ruin her life and choices.
Huh?
The main choices before Nigerians in 2023 are clear:
Vote Tinubu to continue more of the violence and suffering politics of APC.
Vote Atiku to return to pre-APC, elite-based, cake-sharing, hit-or-miss politics.
Vote Obi to try a people-focused and radically different politics.
"Lekki Massacre denier" is a shameful tag that will follow some people whenever they show up to talk in public spaces in the coming years. Posterity won't be kind to them.
#EndSARS
I can’t believe Segalink was ever a hero to some people here. The man only supported ordinary Nigerians when it did not jeopardise his interests with the political elite. As soon as there was a conflict between both, he chose his side easily.
Even if Peter Obi’s governance skills are just on par with Atiku and Tinubu’s (and I don’t think so), his campaign is definitely more aligned with best practices in democratic societies and clearly an upgrade on the quality of political messaging seen in Nigeria in recent years.
Back when I used to drink beer and discuss the future of Nigeria with Segun Dada and co. For a brief point in time, I thought we all had the same vision for the country. Ashey while I was pontificating, they were positioning. 🤦🏾♂️
Some may think “the game is the game” but the lack of consistency in principles is part of the cancer that has destroyed political leadership in Nigeria and undermined accountability in all spheres of our society. We will never progress if we don’t resist unprincipled people.
Only the '66 coup has an entire ethnicity been held responsible for the acts of a few men. No one holds all the North responsible for Abacha's evil or the West for Obasanjo's antics - and no one should. Using the 66 coup to express anti-Igbo views is so daft it requires help.
By the time APC realises the seriousness and mass appeal Peter Obi’s movement, they are not going to react rationally or peacefully. Brace yourselves for attempts to destabilise, postpone, or even cancel the elections.
The most expensive cars on the worst roads. The most modern gadgets on poor power supply. The most impressive buildings with little public security.
Individually great, collectively poor. The Nigerian state is proof that the whole can be lesser than the sum of its parts.
The more people come out for
#June12thProtest
, the more strenght we show, and the more chance of winning.
Today, the world's eyes are on Nigeria. Foreign govts may be useless, but there is international solidarity for the protest by everyday people, everywhere.

Somebody must stand trial for this. I don't care how long it takes. Someone must be held accountable. If not by domestic criminal law, then by international criminal law. This bloody impunity has to end with our generation.

Interesting how statements that used to be considered as objective electoral advice "Don't vote for incompetence"; "Get your PVC"; "Don't sell your votes"; "Vote for someone who will work for you", etc - are now assumed as campaigning for Peter Obi. Really, really interesting.
The whole of Nigeria is being run by people who shouldn't even be be running a community development association. 🙆🏾♂️🙆🏾♂️🙆🏾♂️
Come 2023, nobody who is in office today must be elected or reelected into any office. They all need to go.

That speech just reignited the
#EndSARS
spark. Sometimes, you need to pull back and listen to your oppressor to remember why you were fighting in the first place.
Nigerians have been looking for a viable "third force" against the APC - PDP hegemony for a decade now. Somehow, almost miraculously, one has emerged via Obi. I really hope that we don't squander this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The next chance might be after we are gone.
Sanwoolu smiled and asked for youth representatives on
#EndSARS
. What a joke.
Next time he asks for representatives for his fake panel, tell him the army shot the people we selected.
Tbh honest, it’s too early to start rating Tinubu’s presidency based on the current pains Nigerians are experiencing. If we are patient and wait long enough, we’ll see that it’s still going to get very much worse for everyone.
I am seriously joining my voice to the calls for Buhari's resignation or impeachment. He has no business running the executive affairs of any country, and certainly not that of the most populous black nation in the world.
#Buharimustgo
Sega has been consistent. Nothing he has done so far is surprising. There are tweets going back three years calling him out.
What is surprising is the number of people who still fall for the myth and ignore the reality. This is part of why we keep voting in terrible politicians.
Families of kidnapped corp members in Nigeria must sue NYSC for millions of Naira, not just for ransom paid to kidnappers but also for emotional trauma.
If, by now, NYSC doesn't understand that it is wrong to post graduates to hotspots, then it must be ready to pay for doing so.
One thing that impresses me about
@PeterObi
’s campaign is how he engages everyday Nigerians rather than just visiting kings and politcal chieftains.
And I’m not talking about performative, corn-eating, campaigns of clownery. He engages people as real humans and not his subjects.
Chinelo’s tragic death was one of the moments that emphasised how evil APC people are. They mocked a dying young woman who never did them wrong.
But when a powerful person who has fed fat on our public funds is mocked or criticised, they start pretending they care about decency.
Today in History: Chinelo Megafu died.
Dr. Chinelo Megafu, was shot and killed by terrorists during Abuja-Kaduna train attack exactly one year ago today, aged 29. She hailed from Onitsha, Anambra state.
Her last words: I've been shot, pray for me.
She's forever in our hearts

Not Lagos Airport. They will collect your data again and again like you never existed before.
I have seen more news stories about advising
#EndSARS
protesters, warning protesters, blaming protesters, and threats to protesters than I have seen about compelling the govt to do right by us. This is how much we have normalised police brutality and state violence in Nigeria.
Nigerians have tasted a fraction of their own power this year and that toothpaste can no longer be forced back into the tube. We are only going to get better at utilising our collective power to get the good governance we deserve.

Bigotry is stupid in itself but Yoruba bigotry takes the stupidity to new levels.
I criticised an Ijaw president and it was ok.
I criticised a Fulani president and it was par.
I criticise the current Yoruba president and now I’m a bastard playing to other ethnicities.
Dunces.
I’m out now. It’s been a whirlwind 18+ hours. Grateful for the messages and the awesome people around me and lots of people who reached out. It was an unexpected “welcome to Nigeria”. Will document the experience properly later. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I will be 36 years old next month. I know many people of my age or just a little younger/older participating in the

protests one way or another. And these people are still calling us 'youths' and asking our parents and wards to hold us. Keep infantilising adults.
Reminder that Dangote and co are rich only because they have proximity to power.
They are not baking a bigger cake, they have merely figured out how to take a big slice of the small cake.
There's nothing admirable about this kind of wealth.
The day has now come that Nigerians are debating whether or not the private replication of an official document is a forgery.
When we start bending principles for political convenience, we have lost our way. We have no roadmap. There will be no progress until we find it back.
People discouraging support for Peter Obi’s campaign on basis of structure, planning or politicking experience are being illogically disingenuous.
What have Nigerians received in 20 years from all the calculated experienced political structures except misery, pain and death? 😡
Stop respecting these politicians. Na respect dey lead to superiority complex.

1. Nigerians love a grass to grace story and will make it happen.
2. But only for the "right" kind of person.
3. And usually to prove a point to the "wrong" type of person.
4. While claiming the individual story is a social lesson despite it not changing any systemic problems.
Nigerians, you must learn how to fully dislike people who dislike you. Detest the politicians that detest you. You must learn to piss on the rulers who piss on you. You must learn --- and you will learn - either by sense or by force.

Tinubu is literally turning Yoruba people into beggars in our very eyes. He looked at the feudal system prevalent in the aristocratic North and said, “I can replicate this in Lagos.”
Yorubas had a chance to reject this mentality this year and the majority failed.
Awolowo wept.
Nigeria is supposedly a democracy where elected officials control institutions of state on behalf of voters.
How did MC Oluomo and his army of thugs become part of this setup except that the police protect real criminals and go after innocent citizens?

I earned 120k a month in my first job in 2009, and had to squat with a friend, sleeping on a rug, for a year to vigorously save up enough for my own rent. It was not a comfortable life. We must be realistic about poverty in Nigeria and how it hurts people.
"Sega helped a lot of people".
Great. Give him 2 marks.
But Sega endangered the lives of protesters by calling them an insurrection against Buhari, thus setting the clampdown narrative for the govt.
Subtract 2 marks.
2 has cancelled 2, and we are now left with 0 credibility.
Buhari really silenced all the Twitter handles of govt agencies for the last three days.
He reduced the online presence of the Nigerian govt and took communications back to 10 years ago because of his hurt ego. 😂😂😂
This whole episode is still unbelievable.
