The stimulus bill should include two things:
1) $2,000 checks per person,
2) Statues of Dolly Parton in all 50 states.
That’s it. Only the necessities.
If you’re a progressive living outside of Appalachia; rather than mock the region, try helping it.
Y’all came together in Georgia and helped flip the Senate. Focus on the whole region.
Saying “stop electing Republicans” doesn’t help progressives win. Join the fight.
Criminal and illegal drugs are flooding into our state, ravaging our communities. Joe Biden & Andy Beshear have failed to do their jobs by ignoring the border, so I'm stepping up.

Democrats have introduced a bill in both houses of Congress to ban hedge funds from buying and owning single-family homes.
The bill would require all hedge funds to sell off all the single-family homes they own within 10 years, then prohibit them from owning any again.
A Charles Booker win makes Joe Manchin less relevant
A Cheri Beasley win makes Joe Manchin less relevant
A Tim Ryan win makes Joe Manchin less relevant
A John Fetterman win makes Joe Manchin less relevant
This is the same narrow-minded thinking we’ve been trying to fight this entire time. The idea that people like Tyler Childers are “hick-lib celebrities” not living their truths about their homes is beyond ignorant
After releasing a video that features a gay love story, Tyler Childers watched many fans question whether he truly represents Appalachia.
His new album, Rustin’ in the Rain, fully underscores his rural roots & his commitment to “the good fight.”
In case you’re just joining us:
-weed should be legal
-broadband should be everywhere
-Never cross a picket line
-Dolly Parton is queen
-Appalachia is beautiful
-Stereotypes are bullshit
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has signed a law guaranteeing free breakfast and lunch for all students in the state, regardless of how much money their parents make. Tens of thousands of food-insecure kids will benefit.
Reminder: Twitter isn’t real life - it’s a finely curated environment based on an algorithm.
Dr. Oz, JD Vance, Ted Budd, Herschel Walker, Rand Paul are all still favored to win their races.
Make a plan to vote. Bring friends to vote. Volunteer to canvass. Don’t get complacent
Our rights, liberty, and freedom are under attack. The only option we have is to stand together and fight back.
Thank you, Danielle. From the Hood to the Holler, the people of Kentucky are rising up. We will win.
The fact that Norfolk Southern thinks a mere $25,000 is just compensation for a train derailment that leaked toxic chemicals - is pathetic. Appalachia is yet again treated as a sacrifice zone.
Today Des Moines City Council Member Linda Westergaard said that “many landlords do not make a profit, that’s not why they’re doing it.”
She was responding to proposed requirements for landlords to replace lead pipes in their rental properties.
Appalachians matter.
We’re not going to be written off as irredeemable red states
We’re not going to be written off as negative statistics
We’re not going to be written off as negative stereotypes.
West Virginia is more than just Joe Manchin.
Kentucky is more that just Mitch McConnell.
Georgia is more than just MTG.
Appalachia is far more than our elected officials.
It’s about women not getting too big for their britches. It’s about them not getting’ above their raisin’. It’s about women not being uppity or snooty or “too much.”
Liberation is choice. Liberation is self determination.
Fuck you, JD Vance.
If your worldview tells you that it’s bad for women to become mothers but liberating for them to work 90 hours a week in a cubicle at the New York Times or Goldman Sachs, you’ve been had.
It should be a crime that Devin Nunes and Jim Jordan are receiving the Medal of Freedom while someone like Dolly Parton hasn’t.
Dolly has dedicated her life to philanthropy.
Nunes and Jordan have dedicated their lives to Donald Trump.
Abortion is still legal in WV, NC, TN, KY, VA, GA, OH, and PA. Abortion is still legal in Appalachia.
In the coming days, let’s all work together to get as many women and people with uteruses as possible the care they need.
#abortionishealthcare
The members of Trinity Moravian Church in North Carolina purchased nearly $3.3 million of local residents’ medical debt for just $15,048.
Then, they held a debt jubilee ceremony and burned up the debt, canceling it all.
Rand Paul’s response to the flooding in Kentucky was to chastise Charles Booker for assisting in the relief effort while claiming that victims don’t need goods, just money.
You’re seeing in real time how power blinds politicians from any shred of reality.
A lot of people don’t believe there are that many progressives in Appalachia. We know that’s bullshit.
Let’s show them.
Retweet this if you’re a progressive Appalachian.
Happy Labor Day! You can thank the labor movement for:
-the weekend
-paid vacations
-sick leave
-breaks at work
-FMLA
-a paid federal holiday today
And so much more!
Unions protect workers 💪
Norfolk Southern (
@nscorp
) has offered $25,000 in damages to the town of East Palestine, Ohio for the massive derailment and chemical spill of vinyl chloride.
$25,000 for blowing up a town. For positioning the air and water. For killing pets and livestock.
This is egregious.
Our Appalachian ancestors would be pissed right now if they saw that some of y’all are bowing down and protecting billionaires who take advantage of our labor.
Y’all are lucky they ain’t here. They fought wars over this shit.
Instead of saying “teachers barely make more than $15 an hour, so why should fast food workers?”
Start saying “why the hell are teachers so underpaid?”
Washington has really lost its way. I am adamantly opposed to what’s going on with the Biden Administration today from our southern border to inflation, to energy, and so much more. We could lose our country. We need to put America first.

Joe Manchin just disclosed that he made over $536,000 from his WV coal plant in the last year.
Just as a refresher: That’s the same year he single handedly stopped historic climate legislation. 👀
Some sad breaking news this morning: 100,000 Americans died from drug overdoses during 12 months of the pandemic. Most were from opioids, and Appalachia was hit devastatingly hard
Here is your annual reminder that Appalachia is much larger than you probably think.
13 states. 420 counties. 25 million people. 205,000 square miles. (ARC).
Y’all gotta stop pretending like we aren’t big enough to matter and start thinking how we can develop this region.
Come visit West Virginia if you want a real perspective on the state rather than reinforcing stereotypes about it and belittling the wonderful people who live here.
What
#JoeManchin
, who represents a population smaller than Brooklyn, has done to the rest of America, who wants to move forward, not backward, like his state, is horrible. He sold us out. He wants us all to be just like his state, West Virginia. Poor, illiterate and strung out.
Visited a local creek in East Palestine today. These waterways are still very polluted. It’s time for Norfolk Southern to finish the cleanup. Check this video out:
Yesterday was the 3 year anniversary of Anthony Bourdain’s death.
He was one of the only celebrities to give Appalachia a chance.
“Here in the heart of every belief system I’ve ever mocked or fought against, I was welcomed with open arms by everyone.”
A mine blowout in West Virginia is releasing acidic water into the Cheat River at rate of about 5 million gallons per day and BARELY ANYONE IS TALKING ABOUT IT
We believe:
- Black Lives Matter;
- Our LGBTQ+ friends deserve equality;
- Appalachia is more than a stereotype;
- Weed should be legal;
- Student loans should be cancelled; and
- Hillbilly Elegy fucking sucks.
Retweet if you agree.
