I’m reluctant to conclude this. I think there’s feminist value in showing that parts of a worldview can be prised apart, some kept and others discarded; and feminist value in a certain fearless reckoning with the rich, contradictory history of feminist thought and practice.

To start: I take MacKinnon’s NYT piece to be a sobering example of a morally and politically disastrous approach to sex work: one that devastates the lives of sex workers, that strengthens the police state, and that gives cover to the depredations of capitalism.
