Yeah...this is entirely incorrect. mRNAs are not mutagens because mRNAs do not have the power to mutate your DNA. The mRNA present in the vaccine has no way to affect your DNA OR your endogenous mRNA.

I wrote a very long thread about a bunch of articles being used to spread dangerous anti-mask lies. It's one thing to be ignorant of science - it's a different, and more malicious thing to deliberately misuse it.
I've seen this floating around a lot on Twitter and it's frustrating to see science misappropriated like this. It's additionally damaging as many well-meaning folks might see it, think it's credible, and then choose not to wear masks. Well, let's look at the science (1/?).

We actually don't. As a scientist, the reason why SARS-CoV-2 is concerning is it is novel.
Previous coronaviruses like SARS (the original) and MERS had death rates of 10% and 30%. This one is less severe, but very infectious. Panic is the wrong approach, but we must be serious.

Roommate tip: instead of splitting everything (e.g. going 50/50 on a couch, TV, and coffee table), find an even split of the ITEMS (e.g. if couch is 500, TV is 350, and table is 150 then one person buys the entire couch and the other person buys the entire coffee table + TV).

"It'll disappear in April, it'll be like a miracle."
That statement alone should have disqualified Trump from discussing COVID-19 further. The fact many still look to him for guidance instead of the entire scientific/medical community is shocking and a little bit depressing.
The authors write, "More compelling is the possibility that wearing a mask may reduce the likelihood of transmission from asymptomatic and minimally symptomatic health care workers with Covid-19 to other providers and patients." (7/?)
3) The authors conclude, "This change in SpO2 may be either due to the facial mask or the operational stress, since similar changes were observed in the group performing surgery without a mask." That's right, even a *no-mask* control group had SpO2 drop. (5/?)
