Buju changing his name to BNXN doesn't take away the fact that he beat his ex girlfriend blueblack and left her after heavily extorting her of her money.
This IBD Dende’s exposé by Fisayo directly points to why so many people in Lagos wanted Tinubu as president—counted his presidency as the level ground and free passage to criminality.
I was 9 months. Got crawled into naked wires and my hand was melting. She ran out of the bathroom naked, tried to carry me. She was wet so the electric current threw her against the wall. She survived, I survived after 5 operations.
Thanks mum.

The sprung out of no where. The Police calmly listened to them without pouring hotwater or teargas. All major news outlets were there to cover them. Everything happened unprepared, unannounced.
I love the Script Writers in Nigeria. They work really hard

Everyone knows Damola was a full-time poet, right? Like he was an editor of a journal & as of 2015, he was part of the delegation that went to Festival Calabar organized by POETS IN NIGERIA, Eriata Oribhabor.
It's with tears & happiness that I submit my graduate thesis today. This collection took so much from me. It's not a book of healing. It may wreck you. But until it reaches the world, I wish you happiness; and myself, congratulations.
The Year of Blood.
I went to teach a poetry class in Washington, Iowa. It was a hall full of students and I tried to personalize my teaching. While going around checking their poems I found a student who wrote me a poem:
Roses are red, violets are blue
Races like yours belong to the zoo

Avoid this product & all its daughter products. The company is currently silencing/imprisoning a woman because they received a bad review.
The owner is evil.
While on the phone, I express my exhaustion to my brother in Yoruba. Unexpectedly, a woman walking beside me says, "e pele." I was unfamiliar with her, and she had no obligation to be concerned. Yet, she showed compassion because language has a soothing effect, and I truly needed…

On Tuesday, at the workshop I facilitated for high school students, one white boy wrote me a racist poem—
"Roses are red, violets are blue
Races like yours belongs to the zoo
& I'll be there too, just to laugh at you"
Honestly, this broke me. I would never forget it. Never.

The next, I am like, ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I hate this world and all my poems!
Am I alone?
Please remember that African Literature is still very marginalized in World Literature & everyone should support African Writers.

Please take it easy on everyone. It's increasingly hard to stay motivated to do things–to read, reply emails, get up from bed and do existence.
Nothing is sane about today and anxiety is crawling up on everyone.
Be kind with your time, please.
Please build capacity as a writer. Writing might not buy everyone a house. Use writing as leverage for other skills.
Research. Take courses. Spread your wings. You are unlimited. Walahi!

We also saw how certain people treated people during the election and it directly points to how people are stakeholders (for personal interest) in this govt. The treatment of southern / eastern voters in Lagos is an example.

Poetry changed my life. It honestly did. And each time I am reminded of this, I cry. Because omg, what would that "no poetry" version of me be doing with their life right now?
The weird thing about the japa discourse is that even in exile, you don’t stop thinking about home. You escape it, but pieces of you are there, rooted, unmoved, stuck, breathing in the ground.

Being an African creative is so hard. First they racially profile you, they attempt to under pay you, then they actually steal your work and when you man up to them, they call you a monkey
I'll be reading some, or many poems on the Feb 28 at Stanford University. I'll be reading some poems from manuscript. A QA session will follow.
If you are in the Bay or Palo Alto Area, I'll like to see you.
I have written a book y’all. Still needs a lot of work but I am celebrating myself today for what I’m extremely proud of.
send me all your love & prayers & of course, offers ❤️
One thing this year taught me is that a little bit of audacity is good.
Documentation is good.
Trying, regardless, is good.
Did too many things unafraid this year.
Everyone is doing what they must. Some are writing. Some are reviewing. Some are writing “thoughts” and criticisms.
Whatever you are doing, find grace. It's what you have when you are unable to write. Be gracious. Be kind. If they do not remember your exceptional talent, they…
If you don't talk about yourself, it'll take years before anyone will notice you were ever here.
You are your biggest fan. Sing, scream, shout about yourself.
