I love how Paystack chose to stay in Ikeja. Their employees get to enjoy reasonable housing, good roads, and a community where they can grow. I went to a couple of houses in Yaba yesterday,na only proximity to Island they dey sell. Their new houses are pitiful.

@eldivyn @EstheAjewole Pay for a bulk mobile data plan. It most likely wouldn't last the expected duration, but it's cheaper than buying weekly or monthly. There's an upfront price, but it could save you 20 - 50% annually. I pay 100k for 1 TB annually.

@Wahaby_Agba I think your assessment is a bit unfair, if people could actually afford these things, they wouldn't need subsidies. Even the "Middle-class" can't afford most of these as their earning power is very low, and systems to support i.e affordable consumer loans just don't exist.

I switched to Standard Chartered Last year, In one year they gave me a credit card, offered my a Mortgage and personal loan facility and also gave me access to dollar mutual funds. I used GTB for 7 years and my name on the account is still wrong after writing 3 letters, levels!

Nigeria actually is the ghetto. A lot of people do high quality work and get paid peanuts. They feel like they are failing but their work is more valued in other climes. Everyone should not have to “move to tech” to be comfortable. We need to fix the system.

@adetolaov I agree. Don’t start with real estate, but as your portfolio grows, you should consider including real estate, especially if you can access reasonable mortgage rates. Also, always remember that real estate is one of the most illiquid assets.

This is such a poor take. At the Africa business forum at Oxford a couple of weeks ago, the earliest speakers on both days were Ibukun Awosika and Sola David-Borha. These are two of the biggest women in business in Africa - They were hours early. Take from this what you will.

Nigerians can't afford the electricity they want to use. That is a fact. Even with the prepaid meter, Thousands of households bypass the meter to get free power. I think the tarrifs will always increase to balance this out. So yet again, the middle class suffers.

@eyilanke Build a backup plan that provides you with some comfort - investments + Passive income. I think if you have the satisfaction that losing your major source of income wouldn't send you under, you'd get a bit more comfortable with money anxiety. Me, I still have money anxiety sha.
