Scout on Rizzo: “He’s the Matsui/Tino bat on a championship team. Not the best hitter in the lineup but the one that does the most damage when it’s all on the line.”
The Yankees should fill Yankee Stadium with storm trooper cutouts and one Darth Vader cutout right behind home plate. Might as well go full Evil Empire this year.
Gerrit Cole on being the ace of the Yankees:
“I think it’s the hardest job in the league,” Cole says. “I don’t think there’s a harder place to be the ace. I think it’s the most hunted job in the league and I think it comes with the most weight. The division is a f*cking
The Yankees are in a bad spot in leverage with Aaron Judge. Fans aren’t going to be happy with a lowball offer and Judge can ask for a king’s ransom after this year. Credit Judge for betting big on himself.
In the last 24 hours. Aaron Boone switched Aaron Judge from leadoff to 2nd because A-Rod called him out and now his own players are wondering why they didn’t use one of their best relievers tonight.
Something has got to change.

This isn’t good roster management.
Barry Bonds hit 73* home runs in 2001. MLB hit .264/.332/.427 in 2001. Aaron Judge has 59 home runs this year and the league is hitting .243/.312/.396. He's doing this in a league where hitting is scarce, without performance enhancers, and a lot more velocity/spin focus.
Anthony Volpe was very impressive last year but what he’s doing in AA this year is special. He’s becoming a complete package of speed, power, and off the chart instincts.
Yankees played Jose Trevino through an injury that he suffered in spring training, Rizzo's injury was in late May, and Domingo German's issues have been something the Yankees were aware of as well. Are they just not aware or do they choose to ignore it?
We lived through the JA Happ for Deivi Garcia debacle, Mike Ford pinch hitting, and now we see Boone sitting one of his best relievers all year to use Schmidt in a crucial game.
When will it end?
Best scenario for the Yankees:
Beat Greinke tomorrow at home.
Beat Verlander at home on Friday.
Face Cole on short rest in Houston with a 3-2 series lead.
The Yankees using the underachieving excuse is old. Sanchez is who he is. Torres’ expectations have dimmed until further notice. Hicks is injury prone. Frazier’s a question mark (health) and his defense is a concern. The Yankees need new talent around Judge and Stanton.
A true
#DeathStar
strategy:
Yankees trade Hicks and move Gardner to CF (2019)
Yankees sign Harper and move him to LF (2019)
Yankees play Frazier/Florial in CF (2020)
Yankees sign Mike Trout in 2021
2021 OF - Harper LF, Trout CF, Judge RF (The end of baseball as we know it)
It’s funny to see Soto tweets and fans convincing themselves that it’s better to hold (insert top prospects of any team) than acquire a future HOF at age 23. There isn’t a prospect in baseball that’s worth holding over Juan Soto.
If the Yankees have the guts to trade away a starter in this run, they should have no hesitation to bring up Oswald Peraza and play him over Kiner-Falefa at short.
IKF made an error in Game 1 and Rizzo saved another error on a low throw with runners on in that game. Tonight, he botched a ball in the first that led to a run and double-pumped a ball that turned into a base runner and 3rd run for the Guardians.
Unacceptable.
