When we discovered gametes we didn't all of a sudden change the sex of lots of females into males. This elements are all connected.

As I have explained our understanding of the sexes has developed and been enhanced. But a female as defined 2,000 years ago is a female today - we just have a better and more detailed grasp of what that means.

Sex is a biological phenomenon and is defined in biology, not medicine. The definition has to be universal among all anisogamous species.

Anisogamous species have anatomy evolved around those strategies. No doctor looks at an infertile man's testes and think they would produce ova if healthy.
