Despite the current situation, we are fortunate to still have a full complement of teaching staff allowing normal lessons to continue. Thanks to all staff for another great day of learning! We will continue to keep you updated of any changes.
We have been delighted with the response to our new clubs offer at Whitmore High. Over 150 pupils in KS3 stayed after school each day! Please see below the timetable for the first half-term. With 23 clubs available, we are sure you will find something you would like to try!
Following our excellent Estyn inspection, we were asked to produce two case studies to showcase our effective practice. These have been published today.
The first focused on the high standards of teaching and learning at Whitmore High School.
Very excited to meet our new y7 pupils this morning. Lots of smiles and very smart throughout. Great start to the new school and new year! Nobody should worry about any blazer supply issues, these can be ironed out as the term begins.
A dedicated KS4 revision section of the school website will go live on Monday. Thank you to all the staff who have worked incredibly hard to get the resources ready in time
SCHOOL IS CLOSED TODAY (Friday) due to a site inspection showing significant ice in many areas. The safety of the pupils and staff has to be prioritised.
Due to the continuing warm weather, there will be no requirement for pupils to wear blazers (or optional jumper) until the end of term. ☀️
Must be back on in September of course!
Following the Welsh Governments announcement today, we will close Whitmore on Friday afternoon at 3pm. We will continue to update you as soon as we receive more information.
School will close at 12.20pm on Friday 19th July due to it being the last day of summer term. School buses have been rescheduled for this time. We hope all pupils and families have a great summer holiday 🌞
Really proud of our year 11 boys collecting their GCSE grades today. A really good set of results, but all pupils are great successes in our eyes! 🥇

We have had a number of attendance queries from parents today. In line with Vale advice we are maintaining a ‘business as usual’ approach. Please be assured that we have followed all PHW guidance and the safety and wellbeing of our pupils and staff is our highest priority.
Following our excellent Estyn inspection, we were asked to produce two case studies to showcase our effective practice. These have been published today.
The second case study focused on the development of an effective culture for learning.

We are all really proud of Morgan here. An outstanding student as well as facing down this challenge:

Due to the nature of our building, some classrooms can get very hot (on hot days like these).
As a result, pupils who would like to wear their PE kits to school for the next three days, may do so.
PE kit or normal uniform only though - NOT ‘own clothes’.
Our School Remembrance Garden is starting to take shape. Two of our students have been working hard this morning planting the centrepiece - a cherry blossom tree - which will grow in memory of pupils and staff who are sadly no longer with us.
Many thanks to the builders who worked extra hours until the last few weeks to make sure the building was ready. New toilets, Sixth Form refurbishment, some outside seating
We have just received approval from the council for our risk assessment regarding the start of term. Full details will be on the website and sent by parent pay tomorrow morning. The schedule for return is the same as detailed in the July 17th letter.
Another great session for the endurance club in preparation for upcoming events. Get ready to see a Whitmore team at the Barry Parkrun, Newport Velodrome and the Penarth Duathlon next year
Delighted to see that our very own Mr P (Best Teacher) and 6th former Daley Chapman (Young Person) are each in the final 3 of Bro Radio’s Community Awards!

Girls - new sports clubs as set out below. Boys - y7 football trials Tuesday after school, y7 rugby (open to all boys regardless of skill/ability) Thursday and Friday after school.
School photographers are in for y7 pupils on Monday and all girls across the school. We will be arranging days for new photographs for boys in y8-11 over the next few weeks.
V unlucky for
@WBWhitmoreHS
who hit the bar three times (Elliot Oxley each time). VAR may well have ruled the first one in as it bounced down and *probably* behind the line.
Strongly suspect a rematch on the cards in 12 months time...
Really good to welcome
