I regret to announce that we have lost our first doctor, Dr Mohammed Ali, a Tanzanian National, 37yr old Male today at 3:15am. He tested positive of Ebola on Sept 26, 2022 and died while receiving treatment at Fort Portal RRH, Isolation facility ( JMedic).
I regret to announce the passing of another Health worker, Ms. Nabisubi Margaret, an anesthetic officer. The 58 year old succumbed to Ebola at 4.33am this morning at Fort Portal Hospital (JMedic) after battling the disease for 17 days.
Absolutely speechless and touched to see this dedicated and committed Enrolled Nurse Ms.Nambozo Agnes from Buluganya Health Centre III. She is on her way to Masheluse village in Nataba parish, Young Child Clinic outreach to vaccinate children.

We have started experiencing an increase in the daily number of COVID-19 cases compared to the stable trends we observed since January 2022.
This increase is similar to the rise we faced in June 2021 when the Delta variant was prevalent.

4 new COVID-19 cases confirmed today out of the 1,989 samples tested today. Out of these, 1,578 samples were from truck drivers while 411 samples were from the community.

I had the opportunity to visit one of my very own heroic health workers, Sr. Doris Okudinia, a nurse at Ediofe Health Centre III in Arua District. She wheeled a patient for over 3km to Arua Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.
Her selflessness is heartwarming.
A confirmed fatal Ebola case has been reported in Kayalwe B village, Buyengo sub-county, Jinja district.
This was a 45-year-old male who is linked to a probable case, his brother.
This morning, I flagged off 200 survey teams that will conduct a rapid assessment exercise to establish the prevalence of COVID-19 among communities in Uganda. Results from this survey will inform the phased lifting of the lockdown.
Today, we tested 225 samples for COVID-19 and 218 tested negative.
However, 7 tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total to 30 confirmed cases.
