For @ArtUKdotorg ’s #OnlineArtExchange theme of #dogs today, we have picked this playful painting of two terriers by #EdwinLandseer , from our friends at the @V_and_A . Dated 1836, one wears a bonnet, while the other has a clay pipe and wears a lady's cap.

The incredible intricacy of miniature boxwood carvings made in the Netherlands has always been a source of wonder. This #16thCentury Gothic altarpiece is only 44cm high, yet is richly carved with scenes from the Old and New Testaments, with the #AdorationoftheMagi in the centre.

🟦 Goodbye #BlueMonday , today is #TurquoiseTuesday ! The luminous turquoise blue of this flower vase creates a dazzling effect alongside the white reserves and gilding. Known as ‘bleu céleste’, it was developed in the 1750s by the #S èvres manufactory’s head chemist, Jean Hellot.

Eggs for brunch, anyone? 🍳 This lavishly decorated object is believed to have been used as an egg steamer or perfume burner. Such an ingenious toy would have been both useful and luxurious in the bedroom of someone like Madame de Pompadour.
