English painter Thomas Gainsborough died

in 1788. This portrait of Miss Elizabeth Haverfield, dated from the 1780s, is a prime example of Gainsborough’s mature style. She is shown in a pose of spontaneity, playing with the ribbons of her coat.
Today, we are delighted to share that after months of careful conservation and renovation; the Drawing Rooms, the Boudoir, the Landing and Grand Staircase, have now reopened!

The luminous turquoise blue of this flower vase creates a dazzling effect alongside the white reserves and gilding.
Known as ‘bleu céleste’, it was developed in the 1750s by the

Eggs for brunch, anyone? 🍳 This lavishly decorated object is believed to have been used as an egg steamer or perfume burner. Such an ingenious toy would have been both useful and luxurious in the bedroom of someone like Madame de Pompadour.
