As Victims' Commissioner, my inbox is full of victims' accounts of anti-social behaviour.
They tell me they feel ignored, passed from pillar to post and need help.
The

The widow of murdered Garry Newlove has spoken out about the terror of living as a target of anti-social behaviour. Baroness Newlove wants the Government to do more for victims of anti-social behaviour.
Gary Newlove was murdered outside their home after he confronted a gang of…
🚨 Latest figures show 27% of criminal cases get postponed on the day of trial.
📈 Up from previous quarter and continuing a worrying, long-term trend.
⏳ This means added delay and uncertainty for victims, amid a record Crown Court backlog.
⚠️ We owe it victims to do better.
💭 It was a pleasure meeting
@AndyCookeHMCI
this morning to discuss how we can work together to ensure that victims remain at the heart of the criminal justice system.
💬 I look forward to continue that conversation further down the line.

Male or female, victims need protection, support — and justice.

To tackle stalking we need to centre the victim, see the bigger picture and join the dots.

I share
@CommissionerDA
's concerns: accurate data is essential; good policy rests on real numbers.
But this is about more than just columns in a spreadsheet. It's also about safeguarding each and every survivor.
Without a clear picture of offending, we risk failing victims.
📢 My analysis today shows nearly 18,000 domestic abuse crimes are missing from police statistics - after police were instructed to count fewer crimes.
Administrative ease must never come before accurate recording of domestic abuse.

's anti-social behaviour debate:
💬 "Bring the victim's voice to the fore and listen."
Anti-social behaviour ruins lives. Victims need support but they face a post-code lottery when trying to access it. This needs to change.

"People's lives are being ruined by non-criminal behaviour."
Katie Kempen, CEO of Victim Support, says many incidents of anti-social behaviour don't meet the criminal threshold.

Our justice system too often adopts a 'one-size-fits all' approach to justice.
But what if we could find more solutions tailored to individual and community needs?
A pleasure to speak at
#StMaryConf24
today and discuss how to deliver a system that serves the needs of all.
I welcome moves to make it easier for police to issue stalking orders.
Early intervention is key to protect victims.
Too often, the bigger picture is missed, with a focus on isolated incidents instead of the pattern of abuse.
I hope new guidelines will improve the response.
