These people are THE most annoying people on the internet. Doom 2016 was amazing. It was my favorite game for 3 years straight. I have almost 700 hours just in the campaign. But Eternal blew it out of the water in terms of gameplay. I hope ID never listens to the naysayers.

The next DOOM game will have us escorting a paraplegic child through our adventures in hell. It will be very emotional and serious. The combat will be cover based with regenerating health. All cutscenes will be unskippable on repeat playthroughs. Also, there will be crafting.

I would love to see a new Devil May Cry game done like new God Of War. Close behind the shoulder camera, no jumping, can't target enemies to your side or behind you. The outrage would be so entertaining. And the defenders of it would be hilarious, saying it's "more immersive".

I can't play Doom Eternal without the HUD. I've been trying to get into it for days, because of "immersion", but I just play so much worse without being able to see my health values, ammo, and equipment recharging. Respect to no HUD players. But it's definitely not for me.

@Its_Mr_Floyd Many of the platforming sections teach players air mobility skills that are directly applicable to arena combat. Timed air shots, spacing dashes, etc. And 45 seconds of climbing in a 20 hour campaign, cry me a river.

Just had a thought about Doom Eternal and Doom 2016. Doom Eternal leans very heavily into the "doomguy is cool" thing. It has multiple audio diaries of a scientist flat out cumming to how cool you are. Meanwhile, the gameplay is much harder making the player feel less powerful

Beat Horde Mode my first time through and just BARELY got Gold. I got screwed out of so many point bonuses! Overall impressions are very positive. I think id software hit it out of the park with this and the VAST majority of players are gonna have fun with this.
