My iPhone and charging cable are apparently at a point in their relationship where they’ll only do it in one position and that position requires me to hold it in there and I really don’t think that’s my role.
What I learned today: When buying trash bags (trying to keep my youth running team dry in the pouring rain), don't ask the clerk "do you think an eight year old would fit in this bag?"
“Daddy, you know why I love running out here w you?”
[Waits for sentimental and profound words about independence, strength,and the great outdoors.]
“Because I can fart whenever I want and you won’t get mad.”
Simple request to PE teachers, coaches, and some parents: PLEASE do not use running as a punishment. It's incredible how often this still occurs and it needs to end. Thanks.
Hi I’m Eric.
I’ve run, ridden, and paddled tens of thousand miles and with the exception of aid stations, I’ve never wanted to hear your music in the outdoors.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
My son Van asked me last night if he could run with me this morning. This was his first time asking.
We ran 3.5 miles and my legs are fine but my mouth hurts from smiling so damn much.
I can’t think of anything more powerful than sharing your passion with your children.
Laying in bed and needing to pee but rationalizing that you can somehow make it til the morning.
.
Running w a rock in your shoe and hoping it’ll go away.

Same mindset. 🙋🏻♂️
Polish javelin thrower Maria Andrejczyk auctioned off her Olympic silver medal to help send an 8-month-old boy to Stanford University for heart surgery.
Polish store chain Zabka won the auction with a bid of $125K, then returned the medal to her 🥈
Only thing planned today is to go on a trail run with my wife and kids thru the redwood forest.
My wife started running a month ago and this is *her* idea while we’re on vacation.
Life is incredible and I could not be happier.
I’d pay anything to bottle these moments.
As Sunny gets faster and I stay the same, our time together on the trails is fleeting.
I know the day will come when she doesn’t want to run w me, but until that time, I’ll be smiling and struggling to keep up.
This is Laine. She’s 7, finished towards the back in our
#xc
meet today, and is my my new spirit animal.
Thanks again
@runSRA_CIM
for another great meet.

Great reminder from my friend Becky: As people are joining (or re-joining) gyms, running clubs, etc., please welcome them instead of complaining about parking or crowds. We were each new once, and your attitude can make the difference in helping them achieve their goals.
Fastest HS boy finished 3 miles in 13:48 this evening at Woodbridge XC Classic in Orange County.
13:48. High school. Dayum.
Meanwhile check out the girls finish for first. (Winner clocked a 15:32.)
I’ve never seen a meet this big or kids run this fast. Absolutely incredible…
Slowed down on my run today & tried to answer WHY I’m running.
I stopped and thought.
Yes, I love the movement and the challenge, but it feels so empty with no races on the horizon. No group runs. No post race parties. Nada.
My motivation and mojo are waning.
How bout you?
Incessantly checking my phone at school and another parent asked what I was doing. Tried explaining
#BigsBackyardUltra
to her and got a blank stare in return.
Hey worldwide MUT crowd, please remember this as everyone's getting hyped about
#UTMB
next year.
@UTMBMontBlanc
is a greedy organization run by a couple of people who don't play nice in the sandbox and are bad for the sport.
Please stop supporting them.

President Biden signing bill that requires non-runners to ask about “that race in maybe Tennessee? Or Kentucky? that I saw on Netflix and like no one ever finishes it but I think it was this week” for the next month.

You won't find a strong cannabis advocate than me. I grow it, smoke it, eat it, drink it and rub the compounds on my sore muscles.
But: Don't be an idiot and use it when you're an Olympian and The Games are coming up.
This shouldn't be a controversial take.
Marathon Nr. 10 done💪. Can't believe I've done 10 marathons already. 90 marathons to go. Video from today's Marathon. This was at mile 20. I've got a good shuffle game😜😂

After
@runnersworld
clickbaity and adversorial nonsense over the past year, I really thought they had the award for Most Pilloried Magazine locked down.
Then
@outsidemagazine
whispered with a wry but devilish smile, "Here, hold my Michelob Ultra."
Me: Stressed out after 48hr of travel and I check in at
@united
desk.
Rep has a new
@suunto
on and I ask if he’s a runner in broken espanol.
We talk about trail running and he beams w pride while talking about
@kilianj
.
No more stress. Smile on my face. Going home.
Just had a 2nd grader (he just turned 7) run a legit 6:35 1600. He runs with us at recess and PE but this was the first time he wanted to be timed and it was incredible to watch.
Hate to be a downer, but was today just a really really sh!tty day for anyone else?
(Inter)national news, personal news, bad weather, and I ran a measly 3.5 miles this morning that sucked from start to finish.
Just me?
Trying to change it up, but damn.
I know sex is good and all, but have you ever sat on a porch in late summer and ate three grilled cheeses and a glass of horchata while watching
#bigsbackyardultra
on the laptop?
KATELYN TUOHY JUST RAN 15:37.12 FOR A 5K
(5:01 pace)
- THATS THE 4TH FASTEST TIME IN THE WORLD
- she is only a SOPHOMORE IN HIGH SCHOOL
- sets a new high school national record
- the only other h.s. u.s. girl to break 16 indoors, Brie Oakley (15:55)
INCREDIBLE
Since running shorts are $70+ now, they should really come with a warranty that if the waist string comes out, you can send the shorts in for a replacement.
Who’s with me?
While I miss drinking with friends and family on holidays, I *don't* miss the mornings after, waking up bleary eyed and sore with the uncomfortable feeling I said some stupid sh*t the night before.
Happy Sunday everyone. Off for a paddle and a run with the fam.
At kids track meet today and a woman kept yelling “slow and steady will win the race baby! Slow and steady!” and I kept wanting to turn around and say no. Wrong. That’s actually not how it works at all.
Subbed for a 3rd grade class today and for 15 minutes before recess, they were allowed to put in headphones and listen to their choice of music.
The sound of 24 kids humming and quietly singing to themselves was one of the more beautiful things I’ve heard in years.
