Earlier yesterday, the Vice Chancellor, Prof R. Amankwah together with the Registrar, Mr M. Okrah called on the Chancellor of the University, H. E. John A. Kufour at his Peduase residence to sympathise with him following the demise of the former First Lady, Mrs Theresa Kufour.
UMaT has been adjudged with the Best Internal Audit Unit-Tertiary Category for the 2022/2023 auditing year at the Annual Internal Audit Conference held in Accra. UMaT received the award for it's continuous drive for quality, penchant for learning new methodologies and team work.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Richard K. Amankwah together with the Second Lady, Mrs Samira Bawumia will grace the Sustainability and Social Investment Awards 2023. The ceremony is slated to take place today Friday, 17th November at the Kempinski Hotel @ 6:00pm.

Our VC, Prof R K Amankwah has been adjudged Life Time Gold Legend at the Conservation Mine and Reclamation Awards 2022. This event was part of the Ghana 🇬🇭 Mining Week and Gold Expo. Thanks to Forbe Monaco, Aurum Global, Bank of Ghana, MIIF, Adamus, Gold Fields Ghana Ltd and all.
UMaT has signed an MoU with the Minerals Income and Investment Fund (MIIF) to establish a Jewelry and Material Testing Centre in the University. The MoU will also provide support to girls in STEM education at UMaT, and provide continuous professional education to MIIF staff.
Campus life has begun in full swing with the arrival of Freshmen and Continuing students on campus. In just a matter of weeks the newbies will become full fledged members of the UMaT community.

The Ghana Chamber of Mines has held a ceremony to commission a 3 Storey Building Faculty Block at the University of Mines and Technology, built under the Ghana Chamber of Mines Tertiary Education Fund (GCM-TEF). The commissioning took place on Friday, 17th February, 2023.

Our Vice Chancellor Prof Richard Amankwah has been appointed to chair a Ministerial Committee of Inquiry on Health and Safety in the Mining Industry pursuant to section 100 (1) of the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703), to review the entire Health and Safety Regime of Mining
The Ghana National Gas Company has presented a cheque of GH₵ 250,000.00 to the University for winning the 2021 edition of the Gas Challenge Competition. Also, as part of the winning package, the Company has conducted a needs assessment in order to support the University.

The 7th Innovation and Career Fair took off on Monday 10/07/2023 with an opening day for second cycle institutions. Participating schools were treated to an information session on the academic programmes in the University, their related career path and a tour of facilities.
A major highlight of the 15th Congregation was the honouring of Sir Sam Esson Jonah, the Executive Chairman of Jonah Capital and a colossus in Africa's Mining Industry, with the award of Doctor of Science (DSc) Honoris Causa.
